Leaving aside what it would do for us (because I really don’t want to think about it)
I would question “why now?” from a Chelsea perspective. Chances are they are going to make top 4 - Man City may accelerate, but Forest will likely slow - Delap makes it more likely they make the top 4, but think they will get there anyway with what they have. I would be more worried with Arsenal TBH.
Also - if you were Chelsea, would you swap Nkunku for Delap? Every day of the week I would say. Given that Nkunku is quoted at 70m then you have to think 50m is way off
I don’t think this is a Cunha situation either - he won’t be pushing for a move

Chelsea are in a similar boat to us, in terms of strikers, Jackson is being horrifically over used (as Delap is for us) and his goals have dried up, Nkunku hasn’t worked out for whatever reason and they need someone to share the load. One of the articles popped up on my feed today. Bryan King, now 77 and living in Norway, was interviewed by somebody and gave his opinion that Tottenham should target Delap. He speculated that we'd let him go for £50m. This provided the headline "Liam Delap to Tottenham: ‘£50m bid to be accepted’ amid ‘blockbuster’ news".

Those suggesting we could sell Delap for £50 million,60 million or whatever and then Chelsea loan him back are way off the mark. Chelsea like many of the top clubs lack a powerful goalscoring centre forward. To get into the Champions League means many more millions to these clubs so I cannot see a deal where he's loaned back. Unless we have a cast iron replacement lined up and we could come out of the whole deal , a new player, City get their cut and we come out the other side with 20 million in our pockets it would be suicide. | | | |

Not a secret that Chelsea have been after him for yonks and have made him a priority signing this month, it’s all speculation until something does/doesn’t happen, the only interesting development on this, is that a figure has been quoted as the amount it would take to get him, which we haven’t seen previously, either that’s made up completely, or they’ve received some indication from ITFC of what amount we’d consider selling him for 🤷♂️ |

If we could get Cunha, it would be immense and I’d do that swap in a heartbeat, but like you said, we most likely couldn’t. I don’t think it would be a great idea to sell Delap right now, especially having added a couple of players that could create a lot of chances for him and nobody in the building to replace him. | | | |
