Club keen to sell rather than loan out Ali .. 16:57 - Jan 22 with 3652 views | Bellevue_Blue | A PSR move or just happy to cut their losses? I for one never thought we would be selling him now but it's tough to argue he looks capable of being part of a PL squad or even high level promotion chasing Champ squad.

Not everything has 'Keno' on the right hand side that you see on the internet.

The deal which was being talked about was a sale.

Probably more than that given we became a PL club. He did okay in the Championship, is clearly lacking confidence and is taking a bit of a battering by our own fans in certain areas. Feels like he'll have to move, which is a shame, as his story is really nice (appreciate no sentiment required in football)

Think we may make a small profit on him. Strikers do sell for a premium, Norwich got £9m for Idah in the summer and he was pretty poor. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Even if we go down, unfortunately Al-Hamadi wouldn't be good enough in my totally honest opinion. Delap is more than likely on the move this summer, so we would need better as a back up to Hirst. Not his fault, a victim of our sudden success. If or when he leaves, he leaves with my best wishes and luck.

Moreover, you can see why we signed him. He's got a lot of the attributes to play that 9 role. Very raw but there is a player there, attitude and approach as spot on as well. Really hope he does well.

Don't forget the "oh, is Josh Maja crocked? That's a pity, isn't it." premium.

You think his value is now less than what we paid for him? With him now having scored at a decent rate in the Champ (relative to game time), 2 divisions higher than we'd bought him from?
Club keen to sell rather than loan out Ali .. on 18:49 - Jan 22 with 2031 views | Vaughan8 | Says a lot considering we could be back down in the championship next season. We clearly don't think he's good enough to be in a top half team in the championship. I'm surprised West Brom are after him tbh.

I think we bought a player in a bit of a panic and were gambling a bit more on potential than anything. There is therefore a bit of unrealised value in the price we paid (I.e. he might be a world beater at championship level or above). I think we can definitively say that he is not that now so in my mind he is less valuable. I think his goal scoring return for us flatters him massively but I wish him nothing but success and hope he turns out to have a Kieffer Moore type career after leaving us.

Agreed. He could easily be worth less now. We bought him in January from a club who still wanted him, so you pay a premium usually for that, and as you say, maybe a bit of a panic buy. Despite it being the same time this year, he's not wanted.

Don't think it was a panic attack all. £1 million was actually considered a bit of a coup and the figures being talked about were at least 50% more until that figure got made public. His stats were fantastic (not talking just goals) but there was a very detailed analysis out out about his attributes and how a lot of his stats were comparable with lower prem/upper champ (running power etc). I always take such things with a healthy pinch of salt but he has good excellent attributes. His touch/dribbling for me is very raw but he's definitely a poacher and gets himself in good positions, clever in and around the box etc. For me champ might be his limit but certainly can do well there which is a good level and one we might be in. I'm ok with selling him but I reckon we are looking for £2 mil +

Think it says more about the progression of the club rather than anything negative towards him. We signed him as a Club that had just been promoted from League 1. If we go back down, our parachute payments and season in the PL mean we'll be able to look at much higher quality strikers
