"But my feeling is players here will be the ones we'll complete season with."

Hmm, I do worry that we're looking unlikely to pick up a third striker - if one of ours gets injured, then we're going to have to rely on either one of them who barely ever finish 90 minutes, maybe for an extended period of time...

God I'm so fed up with these doom-mongering threads. For starters, he's not going to say, "Yes we're still desperate for a striker" thus pushing any prices up. And secondly, there's a few days left.

Why can't people just be patient and wait and see what happens before analysing every little thing and throwing the toys out?!

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Bit of a harsh response. I'm not doom-mongering at all. I merely commented an opinion from what the manager said.

If you think I've thrown any toys out, you should try reading some of the other posts on here!

Someone must have enough time on their hands to look up what he said on this subject just before the close of the window in each of the last couple of years. I suspect he says absolutely nothing different!

Your comments/opinion are doom-mongering. "I do worry", "looking unlikely", "if one of ours gets injured"... it's just constant negativity from people who can't just wait and see. Nothing harsh in my response, I've seen several threads like yours started, I'm afraid yours was just the straw that broke the camel's back. And it looks like I'm not alone in my thinking.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

How on earth is he throwing toys out of pram?
He’s stating the absolute obvious, and given we spent a number of months with only Delap it’s hardly impossible this might happen again (given Hirsts injuries whilst he’s been here)

I was actually focussed on the fact that he equated "my feeling is players here will be the ones we'll complete season with" with "we're looking unlikely to pick up a third striker".

I've explained why.

I don't know if it would be that much of an issue if we don't sign another CF, it's obvious we can't improve on Delap, and we will always play one central striker, so the signing would be a backup, I'm happy with Hirst being that rotation option, and as we now have so much depth in the positions off the striker we do have the option to use Szmodics or Encisco up front (I think earlier in the season we would have used Szmodics in rotation with Delap when Hirst was out, but the issue was it weakened us a lot to move Szmodics off the left, that wouldn't be the case now).

I think if the right player became available then another high quality CM would make more of a difference to us than another CF

I'm no wordsmith, but a point of order: "I do worry" and "looking unlikely" are very gentle, highly qualifying phrases. you brute.

Harsh.

Texters - I do tend to agree with you mostly on here...

But since Frimmers has gone you seem to have absorbed his negativity into your own and become this super villain.

The state of this thread.

Clearly talking about about players staying here and rebuffing bids, rather than no one coming in.

What’s massively negative about saying Hirsts injury record hasn’t been great here? Or that we had a number of months with just Delap?

Surely, and please tell me if I’m wrong, but both of those are just facts?

How is anyone possibly downvoting this thread? NOT signing a 3rd striker is nothing short of a car crash scenario.

Give over!

If a deal is close or they're persuing someone, he's hardly going to say it is he?

Lets just wait for the window to be over before we start to worry.

Personally there is nothing I can do so i'm not going to be worrying too much...........!

McKenna's gut feeling on 15:21 - Jan 31 with 1880 viewsWhos_blue

People reading too much into this "gut instinct" comment I think.
We need to take his presser as a bigger piece rather than just focus on the individual stories.
We're reading this as some kind of epic disaster.
In the Burns KM states:
"We're not going to make any late panicked decisions in the transfer market. If there are players that could really help us and improve us, then we'd like to do so, but we're not going to add numbers just for the sake of cover. We're pretty strong in terms of cover.”

If there are two with the very best for this club at their hearts it's MA and KM.

If the right player is there and it's doable, they'll try to get it done.

It feels like a lot of unnecessary (and unhealthy) hand wringing.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Not a lot we can do so not going to worry about it at the moment while we have Hirst and Delap. After all it is clearly a seller's market for Centre Forwards, especially ones who are not expected to be in the starting lineup.

We know that KM prefers to play a lone striker, therefore who we would be in for that would be happy to play 2nd fiddle to Delap and probably Hirst and yet be good enough to improve the squad to justify a place in the squad.

Not sure who would fill the above criteria?

Arrogant?!? In what way have I been arrogant?! I've just said I'm fed up with all the doom and gloom posts about not signing a striker when the window isn't shut yet. What on earth is arrogant?
