No new striker then on 21:06 - Feb 3 by hadleighboyblue | In which case why let AAH go ? |
Because we have fans in the stand that are more PL ready to play than him.

No new striker then on 21:12 - Feb 3 by pointofblue | I accept he might have been a panic signing. But we are at the point of needing a panic signing. In truth, having Delap, Hirst and Al-Hamidi as the only strikers at the club at the end of August was bad management. January was always going to be difficult to bring anyone in; it always has been. |
I agree that we should never have got into this position last Summer but Iheanacho is not the answer. His name is mentioned purely on his name alone. He is pants, dreadful, a traffic cone.

Clearly not considered up to it from him not being started when Delap and Hirst were out.

No new striker then on 21:03 - Feb 3 by PhilTWTD | To be fair, I've talked to a lot of people over the course of the window, ex-players, journos, agents and no one was able to come up with a really decent shout. Very few strikers available it seems. How many out-and-out number nines moved at this level in this window? |
Fair point, well made! | |

No new striker then on 21:07 - Feb 3 by le2blue | Pretty much the only one was Ferguson. Who we wanted as well but were not in a league position or squad situation (as he wouldn't guarantee to start) to land, and that disappeared when Potter went into West Ham. |
Indeed, I'm sure we'd have liked him, Kieran targeted him ahead of January last year or was it the year before, but it wasn't an easy role to sell - come in, play second fiddle to Delap for a side which is second bottom.

Im curious about the whole Latte-Lath and Broja rush at the end of the last window. We evidently concluded it was a position we really need to cover and it has probably cost us already not doing it. The fact the same player was still available (Latte-Lath) and moved in January but we seemingly showed no interest, seems to suggest we changed our mind. Either as we think the position isnt needed (maybe Enciso helps, but not sure its great if he turns out to be really good in the 10 role) or we decided we simply didnt want to spend the money we needed to anymore.
No new striker then on 21:32 - Feb 3 with 968 views | Swansea_Blue | We play with one. We have a backup. In the even we need a back up to the backup, we’ve a couple who can fill in to do the job.

....they split the 90+ minutes between them, it's KMs preferred way. Who are the couple that can do the same job as Delap and/or Hirst?

I just don't see what options we have without Delap and Hirst. They're either short in height or lightweight and struggle to hold the ball up. Is a last resort better than no resort?

Not convinced his (soon to be former) agent's account of events was entirely accurate. Certainly got the impression on the day that Town moved on from it fairly quickly and that Broja was still the most likely recruit of the two. In the end that was a lucky escape. Still, agree, perhaps a surprise we showed no interest in him whatsoever.

Don't think Szmodics was the issue in that situation.

Presumably more desperate / more ambitious / less PSR-restricted on 31 August than 3 February.

No, it would have been a complete waste of time, money and squad place. There is a very good reason why with so many clubs here and abroad looking for a striker in January that he has ended up in the Championship.

Ok, so we play with two and we’ve still got Enciso, Sammie and at a push Broady or Chappers who can fill in.

I don't think he suits the role. Doesn't have the height or the pace to either win long balls or run onto them.

No new striker then on 21:01 - Feb 3 by hadleighboyblue | Loaning out Ali seems without a replacement seems a very odd decision , with doubts over whether Delap will avoid a ban and Hirst will avoid injury |
Probably loaned out to protect the player from the weird fanbase we have intent on knocking every little bit of confidence out of a player we want to pick on. What use is keeping AAH when fans would just get on his back if selected to start or off the bench.

Kasper Dolberg? Akor Adams? (Prior to signing for Sevilla) Tolu Orokodare? Mika Biereth? All of which could've been picked up for £10m max
No new striker then on 22:00 - Feb 3 with 753 views | JammyDodgerrr | It isn't really surprising. There isn't really that many out there that would work in our system and they certainly aren't available in January on a budget. It's not hard to see why we chased Broja so long in the summer. It's disappointing but I expect there just wasn't any deals to be done.

Our big weakness has been the ability to recruit overseas, but that doesn't just happen and there are more examples of flops and players not settled than those that are an instant success 1st season.

Yeah, I'm surprised he keeps getting mentioned. His performance at PR off the bench last year was remarkable - they may as well have stuck Jonathon Douglas on up front for all the energy he added.

I wasn't talking about any other striker, just Iheanacho who I've seen play this season. I don't have an opinion on those as haven't seen them.

Early Jan I was desperate for one. But with 14 to go. Julio in the building and Sammy to come back soon.. we have 2 striker options plus 2 back ups if needed In a worst case scenario. Al hamadis loan was a great option to take. If he smashes it and we do go down. We already have a champ made striker ready to go should we lose delap but keep hirst. Then we hit the summer Market for a third option with better funds than what we have available at his point and in a better window.
