I wonder if these companies send them out to managers on spec, in the hope that they'll wear them on MOTD? [Post edited 8 Feb 23:30]

Don’t kid yourself. Neither Canada Goose or these are ethical companies.

Marketing team - "I know" - let's call the puffer jacket banks. Cos we are sandbanks. And maybe we could do a sand colour. So thats the sandbanks banks sand puffer. God I love our marketing jobs. Better charge £900 for it.

Good job Jeff Banks wasn’t involved as the fashion designer.. as he used to be married to Sandie Shaw… So that would be Sandie Shaw’s ex Jeff Banks sandbanks banks sand puffer. They could’ve charged more for that.

You’re not a Premier League manager if you don’t have a Sandbanks coat, as mentioned it’s Jamie Redknapp’s company, imagine most, if not all, don’t pay a penny.

Ah, I didn't realise the two were linked. Makes sense, naming it after where his dad and, for tax purposes, dad's dog live.

Get them in the sale. Mine was down to £205 from £700 which is in my opinion reasonable for a quality coat.

Depends on where it's made and the quality. Cheap fashion is definitely not environmentally friendly, unless bought second hand of course. Quality can last a lifetime, but comes at a cost.

Surely if you can discount your clothes from £700 to £250 then its about vast profit more thab quality?

If you’ve got a spare £900 on 21:37 - Feb 9 with 2067 views | Churchman | £895 for a coat? Jeez, not for me. Don’t get me wrong, a bit of quality is always good but £895 sounds like a big lump of profit for a coat that probably cost about £25 to make as much as anything else. My Barbour coat was expensive at £150, half price in a sale, but I could live with that because it fitted well and is now about 8 years old and just run in. The ski jacket was also half price at £150 15 years ago (North Face) for uber cold weather and skiing and I don’t anticipate buying another winter coat for a good long time yet! I never buy clothes at full price and most stuff comes from Cotton Traders, JD etc. With a boat race like mine, sartorial elegance really is at the bottom of the list!

I didn't specifically mean this brand. I know nothing about them. My point is, cheap and mass produced clothing that is shipped from China and often discarded after a few wears, is big problem. Apart from socks and pants, I haven't bought any new clothes for many years. I buy second hand items that I wouldn't be able to afford new. As an example, I have a few Sierra Designs mountain parkas, that were made in the USA in the 70s and 80s. Even second hand they can be expensive but they can be found at a good price, with a bit of bartering. The quality is excellent and they last forever. Sierra Designs now produce their clothing in Asia and the quality is much poorer but at a cheaper price. I also love Scottish knitwear. There are several independent mills, producing great quality sweaters. Again they are quite expensive but can be found second hand in great condition.

Canada Goose is obviously the absolute opposite of an ethical brand.
