Is there any way to get Hirst and Delap in the same side? 16:16 - Feb 9 with 3634 views | jasondozzell | I'm almost certain that KM won't do this because 1. He prefers one striker with three 10s behind mostly and 2. He'll feel we need to be able to have a replacement for Delap on the bench. But that RW profile that KM talks about in terms of Wes and Ogbene as straight runners. Delap could obviously do that. Thoughts?

Obviously things have worked out differently, but if Hirst was available at the beginning of the season he may well have played there!

Yes! Think that's absolutely right. Funny how things work out. If we had landed the Greek striker could well have been very different. I just feel that Hirst links play so well as well as his pressing. Him and Delap would be a real handful for any side. We had them both on the pitch at the end against Saints.

IF and only IF KM ever played the two together. I'd like to see delap on the left of a front three. Imagine davis on the overlap. Delap battering ram inverting inside bam right foot smacker bottom left.

Exactly! Deadly duos. Hirst and Delap on the same team sheet would be a boost.

Is there any way to get Hirst and Delap in the same side? on 17:32 - Feb 9 with 2590 views | OldFart71 | I don't think KM would risk Hirst and Delap for 60-70 minutes and as you say he prefers one up front who brings the other forward players into play. I like Broadhead as he has the ability to see a pass. Ideal to slide one in for Delap to run on to. If we were to hang on to a place in the Premier League it is imperative we find a mobile strong midfielder. Not sure if we drop we would hold on to Cajuste and obviously Delap would most likely go. But the money we get both from him and parachute payments would enable us to get replacements capable of getting us up again.

Is there any way to get Hirst and Delap in the same side? on 19:55 - Feb 9 with 2280 views | pointofblue | If we had a third striker then this would be an good move IMO - I think Delap would offer more on the right than Hutchinson has for a little while now. But with that lack of reserve forward, McKenna will probably only, and rightly, field only one of them from the start.

Is there any way to get Hirst and Delap in the same side? on 11:41 - Feb 10 with 1642 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | The only way of making this happen is Hirst striker and Delap wide right. Not having a third striker maybe makes it more difficult. Perhaps Broadhead could be a 3rd choice option, Szmodics another etc. Getting the balance right is more important than fitting both on the pitch together. You don't want Delap tracking the full back deep into our half as he will then be ineffective positionally when we get the ball back. He is a good ball carrier, but you want him threatening in the final third. Another point is how it could imbalance our left hand side - would this restrict Davis from getting forwards more? Would our two CM's get dragged over to the side of the ball leaving a lot of time & space in the half spaces for the opposition? I'd like to see if from the off one week. Maybe Villa is a good game to experiment. They're expected to win anyway, but their full backs are attacking, especially Digne as I believe Cash is injured.

When Delap almost had to, people were saying we need someone other than AHH to come on. I'd prefer one to start and one to come on at 60-65 mins. We've got so many wide players, we don't need Delap there.
