Away Ballots 18:06 - Feb 13 with 2307 viewsLA_Tractor_Boy

Has anyone on here been successful in an away ballot this season?

No success again for me in the Palace ballot. I've no issue with the points system, but the SB membership is proving to be a waste of £40.

Nope. Entered every one and no joy.

Entered every time, but no luck.

The 2% ballot is a bit of a joke really.

I was also sceptic but then amazingly got tickets via the ballot for Liverpool.
So it does happen.

I am quite sure that most members had bought their membership ahead of finding out that only 2% was going to the ballot. I was expecting to see 5-10%. A ballot for 60 tickets is almost worthless. I felt the club were slow on informing supporters about the 2% limit.

This may work the other way next season with those with less than 20 points not bothering with the membership unless they still require it for home tickets.

I was successful for Fulham but that was it.

I’m not going to renew our 2 memberships for next season unless they open up a bigger percentage of tickets to the ballot

Nope. As a ST holder not sure I’ll get membership as well next year.

No luck for mascot ballots for children either.

14 of us have memberships. No ballot success at all.

Wrote to club, got quite a terse response, more or less “hard luck”

I then explained the flaws in the system, and how to improve it.
No reply.

Nope entered every one and nothing. Just a mail saying no luck this time would be nice. At least you know where you are at rather than checking spam folders, and fearing a mail has gone astray. Can't take much to auto generate mails to every account that misses out.

What was your suggestion on improving it ?

I did similar, suggesting a weighted ballot system for all the tickets (i.e. 40 points, 40 entries in the ballot) etc

Why would you give a better chance to those who are more likely to have been to several away games?

Personally, been stuck on 14 pts all season and no luck in ballots.

It'll all be worth it mind to get a ticket for Wembley for the cup semi final . . . . .

My suggestions were many, but my personal favourite was a turn based one.
If you have already made it to an away game, via the ballot or points system, you are not in the next ballot. Allowing those without as many points a chance to get a ticket.

So, simply, if you were successful in game one, you were lower down the list for game two.

Yeah that's so true why should I get more chance to go to Liverpool away off the back of going to Plymouth away, I should have given my Liverpool ticket to a first time fan now I think about it

I'd say most that went to Plymouth away were at Anfield. . . . .

Personally I think that the ballot could be expanded to a 100 or so tickets but it's fine as it is.
As the thread shows many won't bother next season anyway so any ballot will make it easier to get tickets.

Not to charge £40.

I've nto had any luck in the ballot - but obviously, the membership allowed me to buy a ticket to Coventry, and hopefully will get in for Forest too ( would be nice if our FA cup record counted for FA cup games, even if we don't get a APP for it).

I don't think anything needs to change in the ballot other than maybe upping the numbers...

the bigger thing would be making sure that people can't resell away tickets... if we stay up, that might change, as I think away tickets are going all digital, so it will be harder to move them on, so that might help.

If we go down, then the clamour for tickets will probably be less.... so either way, I'm holding out hope for getting to more games next season.

I will revisit your original post

'Why would you give a better chance to those who are more likely to have been to several away games?'

Because I spent money going to games like Plymouth and Preston that you couldn't be arsed to go to

Got lucky for the Arsenal away game. I had one ballot entry for three members of the family and then a separate single family member also had an entry.
The joint tripple entry won in the ballot and the single one didn't. When I came to purchase the tickets it let me purchase 4 tickets for some reason! It must have been a glitch in the system.

Absolutely this.

The ballot was an integral part of the sales campaign for the membership. It was only after the event that the minimal extent of the ballot was revealed.

In any other line of business that's called a rip off. Club has done many things right over the last 2-3 years. This isn't one of them.

Not so much away but I have managed to get members tickets for 2 games so far this season. I am hoping to make at least one more home game this season so at c£13.00 extra per game I can stomach that to see us in the premier league.

Also may yet prove good for the FA Cup. If we stay up ill probably renew the membershio nexct year

The PR side of things has been fairly consistently spot on. It's been the commercial decision making over the last 12-18 months that has left a lot to be desired; profit before fans, would pretty much sum up most of it.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

No luck for me in the ballot although I was able to buy a ticket for Coventry and made it to Fulham in the home end. I'm ok with it this season, gives something to the fans who travelled consistently in the Championship. I hope they increase the ballot % next year though otherwise it becomes a closed shop
