I thought the Van Nistelrooij appointment was peculiar as it was. A week before they sacked Steve Cooper - VN was still at Utd - so highly, highly unlikely Leicester had even considered approaching him. Very strange selection.. | | | |

Odd appointment yes. Why wouldn't he go there, though. He obviously thought he would do better than he has and he has made it abundantly clear that he isn't a manager but he would have done that wherever gave him the chance to one would assume.

I think that's where my tinge of regret would be if we don't stay up. I feel we've had the opportunities to be much clearer. Sliding doors moments, potentially targeted the wrong sort of players for the job. I dunno. | |

First managerial opportunity and I would hazard a guess he’s found it far more difficult than he imagined. United produced some unbelievable players throughout a couple of decades but few have gone on to be good managers. Rooney, Keane, and now RVN.
The exception being Mark Robins who did fantastically well at Coventry. I can’t help thinking that Van Nistelrooy would have been better following in the footsteps of our own Kmc, starting further down the pyramid and gaining his experience and knowledge there. | | | |
