Just had something come up reminding me of the weekly ‘clap for the NHS’.
Wtaf was that about. The gesture originally was well intended but I wonder how patronising they felt it was. All the while we all had one group of neighbours who were judgmental about who was or was not clapping. |  |

It was a strange time. Had to drive six miles into a different county with my youth football team to practice as the county we were based in wouldn’t alllow any gatherings. And played our home games 20 miles away. Outside with masks on. TW not TD. |  |

The real issue is that the Tories (and specifically Boris) pushed the "clap for the NHS" narrative which was fine but then proceeded to not increase their wages in a proper manner after covid.

The most bizarre "Covid - wtf were we thinking" story I tell, was when an outdoor cafe wouldn't serve me a coffee...as they only had access to bottled water - which they had quarantined and wouldn't touch for 48 hours, in case it was infected.
I did point out that it would be boiled but apparently the risk was just too high...hence it was cold drinks only available that day.
And the cafe that made me take off my cycling gloves to santitise, before I put the gloves back on and handed over my payment. |  |

I was reading an account of someone’s experience of lockdown. Think he was in his late twenties and had an average paid office job. He stated that he loved lockdown as he saved a lot of money, wfh and got healthier. But he mentioned that he doesn’t state this often as a lot of people struggled through it. I remember queuing up outside the supermarket all around the car park about 2m away from the nearest person, only to get inside & it was an absolute free for all.

My neighbour asked to come and join in and was a bit out out when I said I wouldn’t do it. He didn’t really understand that I’d rather they be paid than applauded.
The house between us, had a woman in it who was hospitalised twice and nearly died of Covid. Then kept breaking lockdown and having three generations around constantly as if it was normal.
I don’t miss lockdown at all I have to say. Wasn’t a good time at all. |  |
