Carabo Cup 17:58 - Mar 16 with 2433 viewsfootball

As a former Newcastle Uni student who used to watch them loads (at the time you could but tickets easily), absolutely buzzing with them beating Liverpool. Not won a trophy for years and Newcastle as a city is the best city there is with the best fans. Nice to see a different clubs name etched on a trophy

Newcastle best city is a wild shout.

I’m also pleased to see them winning though, hope they see it through. Mostly because I can’t stand Liverpool FC though and they’ve already got the league.

It really is a brilliant city. Not that I go doon Toon much these days.

I love living in South Tyneside, excellent beach, close enough to the city, close to Weardale for some countryside, off up to Seahouses, Alnwick, Morpeth, all lovely.

When I get home from sea and get the taxi home, I love seeing St James’ Park, the Tyne Bridge, then on to the Felling bypass which is a decent portion of the GNR. Ah it’s good to be hyem.

Interesting how Manchester City get shredded for being a money club yet so many people want Newcastle to win despite being exactly the same - espeically with their links to Saudi Arabia.

....that money due to PSR rules.

City have already spent.

No comparison.

People felt the same about City when they won their first Premier League title, everyone will soon get bored if Newcastle start winning things regularly.

Probably top 10 in England if you’re being kind, but not threatening the top 5 IMO.

All great places. Felling bypass is a tough part on the GNR - done it 9 times now and never gets easier

They'll be dancing in the streets of Riyadh.

And Liverpool were rubbish, wonder if they now regret playing the kids v Plymouth?

I’ve done it 5, I’m in it again this year.

I used to live on the Johnner, so running past my home was a tough ask!

Always great to see things won by fans who truly appreciate it, unlike fans like Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd who must find winning trophies quite routine.

Never been to Newcastle but when encountering their fans in London on the way to their last cup final, they were the friendliest bunch I’ve met so I’m delighted for them.

Plus my cat is a Newcastle fan so I’m happy for him too.

Would agree their fans are top. I’d probably support anyone over Liverpool, and I’d support Newcastle over most, so today is a good outcome. As someone else said it’s nice to see a trophy head to where it’s appreciated. Good on them.

I did sort of hope Liverpool would win nothing this season after their complete disrepect towards Plymouth and the FA Cup. So for Arsenal to catch them now...

They were a very good mix of noisy/celebratory but friendly and respectful from what I saw when they beat us.
