I think your first paragraph touches on a key point. We seem too keen now to oversimplify what we think of people and how we describe them. As you say, people are multifaceted and complicated, sometimes doing things we like and sometimes doing things we find annoying. Judging people's contributions by the lowest common denominator doesn't really do anyone justice. How boring would it be if people were just one thing...
Either way, once a poster has been banned - I think it is best not to lay into them, but don't see anything wrong with people sharing their positive experiences. |

I don't want to get drawn into a long discussion, all I would say is that I don't read Ryorrys or Leitrims message as "lauding" them at all. I read it as acknowledging that there were good points in addition to bad points. | |
