Agreed.

We do need to start being honest as a club, and stop pretending that this has been any sort of positive season.

The gulf is huge, but we really haven't put up any sort of fight.

I expected us to be relegated, but I did hope KM might somewhat outperform expectations and have us battling to the end.

This is my biggest disappointment. Not that we’re going down but the lack of competitiveness whilst doing so. But, as said before, how much of that is down to the state of the game in general.

Disagree.

First half of the season we were competitive. We just lost too many points that would have had us in the mix now through naivety and bad decisions.

Since NY it’s been dreadful,

We were never favourites to Dario but it wasn’t impossible. Hopefully there’s lessons learned.

Injuries have definitely hurt us; read we have the 4th most injuries in the league and no promoted club can sustain that. Add to that a disastrous keeper signing and the ever widening gulf in class and physicality and it’s no surprise where we are.

Being slightly more competitive for nearly half a season doesn't really count as positive in my book.

...it almost makes it more disappointing that not only did we not build on that.... we actually regressed.

We need to take the Championship very seriously, and not just assume we are good enough to go back up easily.

Also..... possibly going into a season thinking that Morsy should be a starter for most games was ill judged.

Absolutely agree with all of that. It’s been a massive missed opportunity.

Don’t know why it completely gone to sht in second half of the season. Anyone talking about injuries and refs is absolutely deluded.

Next year will be a scrap to be in the mix. Hopefully we are up to it.

Might as well be using the remaining games to prepare for next season. We know Delap has gone, so maybe start using Hirst as the main striker now and have Delap as a bit part.

Not sure how strong the Championship is going to be next year. Let's say Leeds, Sheff Utd and Burnley go up then we will probably have:

Sunderland
WBA
Leicester
Southampton
Coventry
Birmingham
Middlesbrough

Who will be the ones who will be our main opposition for promotion next season.

I really want to know what is positive in your book.

You need to rebrand to Morriseys Mullet.

They are certainly playing with a lot of confidence, players don't look like they have any concerns about relegation.

I firmly believe there were 2 sliding doors moments this season.

1. Leicester at home - Non awarding of a penalty, Philips sending off and then the ref could have repaired his damage by giving the soft free kick on Morsy when (admittedly softly) fouled on halfway which then led to the 96 minute equaliser.

2. Fulham (A) - Jack Clarke unluckily hitting the post at 2-1 up in the 89th minute. The immediate break then led to the penalty for 2-2.

The drop off since Fulham is the most alarming and most disappointing aspect for me.

It's only the fans that will think that.

I guarantee the management/players won't

But it's a reason that will be trotted out time and time again if we aren't 10 points clear at Christmas

There should certainly be some interesting debriefs. Whatever way we slice it up, 2025 has been an utter disaster, despite the gulf in class. No one can argue that at times, it's simply not been good enough. We'd be on for a Derby kind of total with this form. Despite the future potential of the squad I am sure the owners are not thrilled with the results with that kind of net spend.

However, it's still massively important we got promoted last year for so many reasons and the next 2 seasons will ultimately define what potentially shapes the next decade for the club.

Not that it really matters at this point, but watching that half has highlighted to me the difference in quality between their midfield and ours. Everything went through Gomes and Andre, so combative, but also forward thinking, head and shoulders above ours.

We didn’t play badly against Brighton overall, which followed Fulham. But we seemed to collapse as soon as we conceded as have never recovered. Didn’t help that we followed it up with the Manchester City debacle, which McKenna has to take some responsibility for with his team selection.

I agree with most of that.

Promotion was the big thing. Go up, grab the money, come back down.

It has been good in terms of the cash helping stabilise the club going forward.

It's possible that we simply over performed in the first half of the season, some teams under-estimated us, and underperformed against us, making us think we were better than we actually were.

Not too bothered, we go again next season in the Championship, ag least I'll be able to get to some games.
