This is of course part of a much bigger problem. ‘In the old days’ a lot of people paid money to buy a newspaper, and nowadays most people don’t; advertising revenue only goes so far. So there is no money in journalism, and it’s simply not worth a journalist’s while to ruffle any feathers. I remember my local paper (in Sweden) writing big exposés of which bars etc were money laundering schemes for criminal gangs, and the journalists were perhaps risking life and limb. Nowadays you just don’t see much of that. I wonder if there is any football club in England that has a paper so strong that it can afford to be more than a mouthpiece for the club. Maybe something like the Yorkshire Post was the last one, or a rival paper that knew the facts and didn’t care that it wasn’t invited to press conferences. |  | | |

And it, like the brandon Williams situation being something known about, is not something needed to be spoken about. So I understand the club keeping quiet.
Just rest assured he won’t be playing for us again. |
Even if nothing was happening off the pitch, there would have to be quite the injury list for him to play again after the way his has performed on the the pitch |  |

Exactly, he was signed as short term cover for the RB position & most people applauded the move at the time. He's clearly had some issues, but if he had been fully fit & played regularly, I doubt he'd have made much difference. |  |

I think given how much the Club crowed about how wonderful they are at scrutinising players and only bringing the right sort of characters in, they have set themselves up for this kind of fall, and I'm not certain that they really deserve to limit the amount of egg that is visible on the face. | | | |

Bit of a different degree of scrutiny required for a £20m permanent signing than a short term loan. There is probably more of a case for criticising the season long loan signing of Phillips, who has disappointed. | |

Doesn't get asked, or even mentioned by any of the usual media outlets.
You can't blame Phil and the EADT etc., for knowing who butters their bread, but I wish (as I think is reasonable to assume) the club didn't effectively issue D-notices on anything that might not be 100% positive, or cause questions (on, say, recruitment) to be asked. [Post edited 6 Apr 21:19]
