whether it's 20 years ago, 30 years ago or even 7 years ago, when we've gone down, we haven't gone up straight away. Im not saying we won't this time, but we don't have a track record of bouncing straight back up albeit the times we have gone down are isolated over a longer period of time.

It think there's a balance between not being arrogant but placing expectation on the management team and players. Things may not work out next season, but they should. Considering the amount of investment in the squad, and income from the likes of Delap (albeit not as much as we could get) and maybe Davis/O'Shea/Hutchinson, we should be contending the title next season. And, if we're not, questions need to be asked. |

I wouldn’t be basing anything on the squad we have now. I think there will be a significant number of new signings coming in over the summer again.
The loan players go back to their respective clubs. If the players out of contract were likely to sign again I’d have expected them to have done so by now. Delap and maybe one or two others will be subject to bids from other clubs and moving on.
We should be well placed to make a good go at coming straight back but it won’t be as easy as some seem to think. It never is! |  | | |

Indeed. 'Spursy' just means they feck up a lot... and I'll bet most fans say their own team has a penchant for fecking up more than other teams. I know I've said "typical Ipswich" countless times over the years. But there's certainly no tangible thing within the club that says we're more or less likely to bounce straight back. I think that KM will be given to Christmas - the owners will invest in the club over the summer and so will expect automatic promotion. KM is obviously highly thought of but such sentiment has a shelf life. |  | | |

We are going to have to work our arses off again to even make the play offs. We are in a totally different position to when we came up.

Yes, we'll lose some - Liam Delap seems very likely to go (and help us strengthen in some areas). Signs are Tuanzebe and Burgess leave (if not, even better).
Overall however, that suggests a massively stronger squad entering the Championship this time compared to after promotion. And that's before we add a few more names - with it being likely that we can recruit more easily (relegated parachute team vs newly promoted team).
There are no guarantees, and we shouldn't be complacent, but if you look across the entire squad and the depth, we are much stronger for the next Championship than the last.

We'll be one of the favorites and rightly so, but we all know it can be an awful division to get out of, which is why we spent an eternity in it.
Parachute payments distort it far more these days, we essentially have a cheat code going into it, but, as others have said, what you have on paper doesn't always equal points.
If McKenna stays then I think we will be fine, he will have the bit between his teeth, knowing if we do go up, we'll be in a far stronger position to make a fist of staying up. |
In fairness though, we spent an eternity in it before minus the cheat code. We have a major advantage over 21 over teams in that league next year, therefore anything but promotion is a failure for sure. |  | | |
