So much for the smash the gangs approach,Rwanda was not by any means perfect but it had migrants here in NI going down south to get away from it in such numbers that the Irish police actually started doing checks at the border!

I think this post cover's a lot of people concerns. Doesn't make them all racist
Perhaps not, but "concerns" are things that worry people, right? And if something's worrying, and there's facts and data to prove that it's not something to worry about, surely that's a good and reassuring thing? So why don't people like this want to have their "concerns" allayed?
It seems to be just because it's easier to listen to what Nigel Farage is whispering in their ear rather than do a bit of balanced reading, and because it's a matter of pride and unwillingness to accept they've been made to look a bit gullible.

Sadly 'Paul' is only the tip of the iceberg. In my experience, 'Paul' will speak with lots of people as he goes about his business and he will pollute the village well by spreading and drip feeding the poison he's been fed. Many of his older friends probably won't be on social media but they will pick up on the golden thread of bull that's emanating from it and the narrative is born.
Our elders are at great risk from this and the 'I only buy the {insert right wing rag} because it has a good TV section/ vouchers etc' loss leaders. It's corrosive and scary.
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Those "English" mostly originated from Northern mainland Europe and Scandinavia. Benters is probably of Norwegian descent. You should come over and see where your ancestors lived, Benters (they would have arrived on boats and probably committed crimes).

You may be correct for the majority of Brits. But myself and Benters are the very rare type of Brits that are directly related to the first Mesolithic proples of England and whose ancestors have managed to breed only with other Brits who have avoided breeding with anyone who wasn't strictly descended from the original Mesolithic population for over 10000 years. The rest of you though...

To be fair there are quite a few villages around here and into Norfolk like that. Benters has already admitted he is a Welsh immigrant, though.

Isn't there a decent chance that life landed on Earth rather than originated here, so you and Benters are potentially aliens from another planet?
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

There's no Wales in the Mesolithic, just one big happy island recently cut off from our brethren in mainland Europe. In the future people will call us British and are brothers in Europe European. Crazy really

Pah - you think you've got it complex? Try having a Dad who was born in the USA but whose parents were from either Poland, Germany or Russia, depending on where the changing borders were!
Plus the family name apparently being derived from the Netherlands, Croatia, Slovenia - and Gloucestershire! ( Guthers). Not to mention mother's side coming from either France or Germany, depending on who'd won the latest war!
And still some think human migration is a new thing.

Can't believe this was 12 years ago now, but still perfectly illustrates the point!

Bollox. The Mesolithic Welsh are still around here - they all come out during the Six Nations. I bet they were defending their borders during the Mesolithic with their Cymru Am Byth bucket hats on and singing ‘always piss on the Doggerland side of the bridge, dah dah, dah dah dah dah dah dah’.

So exactly the same as me and Benters then.
Your descended from European hunter gatherer groups that roamed the Great European Plain (that roughly covered Europe from what is roughly now the West Coast of Ireland all the way to the far East of What is now Russia prior to the islands that make up UK and Ireland being cut off) hunting down large herds of bison etc. It's just the majority of your mesolithic descendants were trapped in mainland Europe rather on these islands at the time of the ice caps melting. If that sorta makes sense?

I'm way to lazy to check, but have a horrible feeling that one of the first signs of human activity on what become these islands is from some cave in Wales. Think it's a female skeleton covered in ochre from the Paleolithic I think. Would have been a female member of one of these hunter gather bands that travelled to the far West if the plain following those herds. Might be in the West of England rather then Wales if were lucky

My brothers Leitrim & Benters :)
This obviously explains why I was inexorably drawn towards packs of buffalo meat for sale at a farmers' market about 5 years ago ...
Going back to something Dollers said a few posts ago - just caught the last 30 mins of an amazing radio drama taken from a 1-woman stage show 'The Fever' written by Wallace Shawn, starring Cate Blanchett. Shines a light on luck of/accidents of birth, but from the poverty v wealth & class angle - whose ancestors slaughtered more on which field of battle etc. Quite brutal but compelling listening which I couldn't switch away from.
