Who apart from Delap 17:02 - Apr 20 with 2636 views | Mckenna1263 | Apart from Delap I don't see any other player that premier league teams will be chasing when we go down. Unless other players in the squad are sold off we are stuck with the present lot. Another indictment of our poor transfer buys.

Cucurella at Chelsea is a good equivalent, he was responsible for both our goals last week but also comes up essentially with a goal too If he was in a side, who have a lot of the ball and go forward a lot more, he looks a different player

Who apart from Delap on 17:10 - Apr 20 with 2256 views | SuffolkPunchFC | Yup, I too would be delighted if we kept the majority of the squad - they will be a good foundation for building into our return to the EPL. Some will inevitably move on as they move into the twilight of their career (Mass), loanees will go back, and some that we have out on loan will be moved on. Other than that, hopefully we keep the core and add a few new faces.
Who apart from Delap on 17:13 - Apr 20 with 2233 views | Axeldalai_lama | Stuck with them?! The one good bit of our recruitment is that they were the best championship players our money could buy. Yeah, what a shame if they all play together in a league where we're not playing teams that win at the Bernabeu, or have £150m plus of talent on their benches.
Who apart from Delap on 17:14 - Apr 20 with 2204 views | Mullet | Hutchinson will go Burgess is wanted by Girona so that’s a decent standard Axels injuries will put some off so it’ll be down to who sees past that - I’d love him to stay O’Shea seems to be in that yo yo category he will likely go Cajuste was wanted by Brentford so I can see a big continental side wanting him I don’t really follow your logic as Clarke and philogene were bought too recently and Davis is the only asset that looked like he’d do well, and instead hasn’t.

Who apart from Delap on 17:20 - Apr 20 with 2118 views | ITFCSG | We need to get the international scouting network and recruitment up NOW. That should be the top priority going into next season, not the stadium upgrades, training ground etc. There's not point having a shiny nice ground and training centre with improved facilities if the players we sign are not fit for purpose in the PL. We will not be able to survive in the PL on EFL players and U21 British players as this season has shown. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

You assume we haven't started building. I'd assume the opposite. It will, however, take years not just appear at a click of someone's fingers.

The thing with Hutch is it's going to take big money for him to go It's not like he has ripped the PL up either, I'm not sure I'm gambling £40 - 50 million on him

We better do, our recruitment this season has been shocking. If we are able to use Jamestown Analytics again next season then McK and MA should know what are the type of players to look out for abroad instead of Championship all-stars and gambling on a couple of PL rejects

It’s very possible that Hutchinson and others will have similar types of release clauses to Delap. Presumably their wages go down in the event of relegation so it would be remiss of the agent not to push for one.

That's perfectly possible, but if they were similar to Delaps then making 5-10 million on Hutch and anyone else, like maybe O Shea, Phili, Clarke or even Szmodic and that's not bad business and we reinvest and go again.

Agree with this. Though I think Philogene and Clarke will be here next year. I'd say Szmodics too, though someone posted something about him being interested in a move to Saudi Arabia. No idea how true that is.

I am very calm about our departures. The most difficult will be centre mid, but to me that allows for a rebuild of a far from perfect area. Obviously Delap, but he's gone, move on, again we need 1 or 2 to improve the options alongside Hirst. Anyone else we have plenty of adequate cover for the champ, no reason to have our pants pulled down over the price and the chance to reinvest and rebuild if people do leave. Attacking wise we'd have to go pretty deep in sales to affect us deeply, hutch, philli, Clarke, burns, ogbene, szmodic, chappers. Four decent centre backs for the champ, a could of adequate full backs each side. Call me hugely optimistic, but I think it's got evolve and progress written all over it. 4/5 around the first team out, 4/5 decent money, decent potential replacements into the mix to progress us. That's kind of the game plan all along, multiple promotions and relegations like Fulham and Bournemouth, stronger every time. Maybe...?!
Who apart from Delap on 18:34 - Apr 20 with 1489 views | Melford | The whole point of our spending has been stick with the present lot, we're playing Championship next season and the squad we have now has been built for that.

We got promoted with a bunch of players not PL standard and excluding Delap..... so who's saying we're going to be stuck in the Championship? Maybe we had one eye on returning to the Championship when we bought players this season. Maybe they'll improve as quite a few of them are top end Championship footballers who are of good age. Cucurella is La Masia trained and reads the game better than Leif, but I get the point.

If someone makes a decent offer for Davis I'd say cash in now as I don't think his value gets any higher than it is right now

Didn’t have much choice with the stadium upgrades though did we? That was a PL requirement. I’m not sure overseas recruitment would have made a blind bit of difference to our position tbh. All 3 promoted sides have found it impossible to bridge the gap to the PL, so I’d suggest the issue goes far deeper than that
