Sounds like most likely thing from their reporting is Hirst signs a new contract here.
With Delap going for £30m, strikers so hard to get hold off and George Hirst being excellent it would take silly money to get him away from here anyway
Burnley and Leeds in for George Hirst.... on 12:33 - Apr 23 by SitfcB
It’s going to be a long summer.
I'm less stressed about it than usual tbh.
It's not like 2002 where we were a carcass to be picked over. For sure there will be departures but we have no actual need to sell like we did then and Ashton will be selling players on our terms.
Plus we know we will spend big in championship terms this summer.
I've come to terms with modern footballs rotating door as well, you can easily see 10 signings again just with the need to replace returning loanees/player releases/sales etc.

Town are in no need of selling anyone frankly, McKenna would be the biggest loss
I actually think we'd consider someone like Sean Dyche even if his system is different, he has that experience of the PL and has worked with Ashton before, scary as Dyche ball might seem but who knows
Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
Joe - if you started from the bottom of the PL and worked up, which job do you think would be the first to seriously pique his interest? (Obviously pushing United & Spurs higher up that list). I struggle to see why Brentford would interest him, unless he has any doubts that he can bring us straight back.

Football Insider is very clickbaity, so not sure any of it should be taken with too much credence. I'm sure GH's agents would love him to be offered new terms.

With 2 yrs on his deal left I suggest we wait until at least January to see where we are before offering GH new terms. Unless there's a minimum release clause the club would like to see disappear / inflate.

I agree but with Delap off, Hirst is likely to be our main man next season & in theory we can ignore any overtures, but we all know how this usually works out, especially if Leeds are willing to offer him a much better contract. Unsurprising that the promoted clubs want to pick up top Championship players - that's all the new boys can afford these days.
I'm not as fussed now if we lose managers or players as we have the buying power to replace them, when in years gone by we had to sell to get the money.
Obviously don't want Hirst to leave though.

This just smacks of agent talk/ paper waffle. Miraculously linked with both promoted clubs who play in very different ways two days after promotion is secured.
He's earnt a new deal here and will rightfully be our starting no 9 next season. I can't see anyone paying the 15M+ we would be after.
He's just turned 26, International pedigree, 13 G/A in just 26 appearances last season and looked more than capable this year in the PL.

Depends if he has a now unrealistic release clause.
Would offer Delap a new contract, with a hefty signing on fee, just to set the release clause at a much higher amount.i
In principle it could work, but I'm not sure Delap would accept it if it potentially limits his options and bargaining power this summer. If we offered him a year extension with a £3m cheque to go with it, and a commitment to sell him at a price of £45m it could theoretically be win win. Can't see it happening though.

Agreed - £15M+ (I made the same comment against the news article)
Do you think we could effectively replace Hirst with £15M? If not, why would we accept that as a fee? At 26 I would want a lot of clauses that could easily be hit as add-ons and a decent sell-on fee. I think we paid more than that for Delap with no Premier League experience at all didn't we?
