Hirst > Delap on 17:06 - May 3 with 3553 views | Cheltenham_Blue | Inclined to agree. As good as Delap can be, whenever he gets the ball I always anticipate one of two things. A Worldy or he tries to bulldoze his way through and then loses the ball, normally its the latter. If anything that is the key reason he should stay with us at least one more season. He's nowhere near being a complete player, another season of being coached by McKenna in a league that isn't quite as tough and he could easily end up with a big money move abroad.

Hirst > Delap on 17:07 - May 3 with 3521 views | Vic | Hahahahaha - not a chance. Delap will have prem suitors this summer, Hirst will not. I think that tells us who is the better player. That said, I do think that as this season has gone on Liams form has dipped and Hirst has improved. Delap is strong but needs to learn how to bring others into the game a little more.

Hirst > Delap on 17:08 - May 3 with 3496 views | Superblue95 | Much better fit for our team even if he doesn’t have the ceiling that Delap has. Having Hirst start and then throwing Delap on against tired defenders with 15/20 minutes to go seems a much more logical tactic than the other way around

Don't assume Prem clubs aren't interested in Hirst, especially newly promoted ones.
Hirst > Delap on 17:11 - May 3 with 3405 views | Swansea_Blue | Delap is clearly the better player, but I’m close to the point of thinking Hirst suits us better and I'd rather have him. But, the raw talent in Delap is another level.

Actually Vic, I think Hirst is a better player overall. At this moment in time. The sky is the limit for Delap. He’s still learning and you could see him doing that as the season progressed. He’s going to be a fantastic player. Hirst? He’s a good player. The only downside to his game is that he’s physically fragile. I like him and assuming Delap moves on I hope he stays. If he keeps fit he’ll run rings round most of the Championship dross.

I thought Delap was actually rubbish today. Did absolutely nothing when he had the ball. Of course he’s a good player, but today, he wasnt

There was a link recently, I can’t remember who though. Would be a shame if it happened as looking very good for fulfilling his potential.

With Delap you know a booking is not far away. The Everton defenders were trying to get a second yellow card for him and to be fair I have seen them given. He wasn’t looking at the ball but was looking at the player.

You could see any of the PO contenders looking at Hirst, if they go up.

Hirst > Delap on 17:22 - May 3 with 3126 views | Metal_Hacker | I’m not sure he’s the better personally but as others have said Hirst suits us better One thing Delap could do and it’s no hidden secret is bring others into the team and not try to barge his way through defenders. Delap looked very industrial today where as Hirst looked to have the brains

Hirst > Delap on 17:38 - May 3 with 2856 views | pointofblue | Delap's the next target then. Well, I guess Muric was dropped then injured so...
| |
Hirst > Delap on 17:47 - May 3 with 2758 views | grow_our_own | 100% - should start ahead of him. Delap as impact sub makes more sense. TBH, I think Delap could do much worse than develop under McK another year. Hirst's hold-up, assists, and goals-per-min are far better than Delap's this season. Much better football brain. I'm more worried about losing Hirst this summer. If we're offered £35m+ for Delap, then we should bank it and not think twice.

What 'that' tells us is Delap has the higher ceiling. Not who is the better player right at this moment. There were Premier League teams making offers for Charlie Wood, who we've just signed from Needham Market. He's not better than Morsy or Taylor.

If any club is stupid enough to offer £35m+ for a player they're able to buy for £30m, then absolutely we should!

I didn’t see the game today, but think that he hasn’t been as effective recently as earlier in the season. Probably a combination of reasons for that. I probably went a little early and emotionally in my first response and over egged it. I do think that his potential is far higher than Hirsts, which is why he he is being talked about as a future England CF, and even now he’s a better goal scorer than Hirst. But all round, for what Town need right now, Hirst may not be too far behind him.
