Muric - Persevere or Not 12:26 - May 5 with 3414 views | LA_Tractor_Boy | I don't want to start another Muric bashing thread, but I'm curious as to whether we think the club will persevere with him a while longer. Personally I think we might, for a few reasons: --he clearly has a high ceiling if we can resolve the concentration issue --he's currently injured, so don't know if another club would sign him this summer --I'm not sure if interested clubs in Europe would be able to afford his wages Having said all that, I guess a loan with an option to buy may suit all parties. Surely he has way too much potential to have his contract mutually terminated.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 12:34 - May 5 with 2531 views | Nutkins_Return | This is genuinely how I see it. He's a better version of Hladky. A much better goalkeeper for me who has good ball playing skills. He has mad lapses in concentration sometimes like Vaz but in a dominate team this wouldn't nearly be such a problem as when we are constantly under pressure in the Prem. He's a young keeper really and will only get better. He has the attributes to top class if he can get the right balance and understanding on when not to play the super high risk ball etc. Him and Palmer would be great one and two. If McKenna wants to go back to the same style as when we went up in the champ then Muric probably stays.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 12:34 - May 5 with 2529 views | J2BLUE | I think he might come good in the Championship with less pressure. With the fee we paid and the wages, is anyone going to take him? Maybe it would need to be a very low fee but even then he will be on a reasonable chunk. He should have a clean slate when pre season starts. Hladky was largely written off and look what he did.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 12:40 - May 5 with 2483 views | LeoMuff | I would persevere, you can see how good he could be. The amount of spotlight on him would be far less and he can build confidence.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 12:46 - May 5 with 2471 views | SE1blue | Feel like this PL experience has shown the calibre of player needed and Muric isn’t it. Think it would be a backward step to keep him. People saying the pressure will be off but what happens if we have another nervy promotion run-in? Cut our losses and build a team better equipped for PL return.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 12:46 - May 5 with 2473 views | hoppy | In an ironic twist… Hladky could even find himself playing in the Premier League next season if Trafford gets injured/sold and they don’t bring in another keeper at Burnley.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 13:02 - May 5 with 2341 views | leftback | He’s not as bad as everyone makes out and probably the best goalkeeper at the club, interesting stat on MOTD said Ipswich have the 3rd worst record conceding from set pieces , however that made me think we only conceded one or two from corners when Muric was between the sticks, no coincidence we have looked much more vulnerable from set pieces since he’s been out of the team | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I’m no fan of Muric but I can also see that he’s a great shot stopper and was brilliant at claiming a ball slung into the box. He is very good at those things. I just feel like we need a keeper between the sticks who can stay switched on and calm for a full game. Always found his communication to be lacking too and as we try and sort out our defence we need someone reliable in that department. There’s no mercy in the PL (or in the stands) and maybe Muric now has too much negative credit to be a success for us now. [Post edited 5 May 13:10]

The thing not to forget is that since being out of the first team, he won’t have been just sitting at home… he’ll have been working on things to improve sides of his game with our coaching team that needed improving so hopefully if he has to come back into the team at any point, will be a better option than previous.

Very true. And if anyone can fix him, it’s McKenna and his team. Honestly want the best for this guy, I am just not convinced he’s got what we need.

His 26 I believe young for a keeper I'm not so sure. For me harsh but cut our losses and get rid I never think he will learn hope I'm proven wrong. Sent home from his national team and can't even remember to insure his car so does his head get anything I'm not so sure.
Personally I'd keep him.... on 13:40 - May 5 with 2072 views | Bloots | ....let him and Palmer battle it out next season. I don't think he was helped earlier in the season with KM's continued desire to play it out from the back, no matter how tight the situation was. We were still playing that short ball into Morsy despite him being unable to deal with the additional pressure applied by far superior opposition than we were used to. We've reduced the tendancy to do that now, so those types of errors have largely gone, but I think that's more down to a change in playing style than a change in goalkeeper. I think he's the best shot stopper at the club, and obviously the best at dealing with crosses. I don't have the stats to hand, but I expect we have conceded far more goals from set pieces since he's not played than we did with him. But, what do I know obvs.

Muric - Persevere or Not on 14:04 - May 5 with 1955 views | Horsham | He’s potentially a premier league standard keeper but unless he can calm himself down and make better positioning and passing choices he’ll not not achieve his potential. I’d say based on potential to keep him.

Muric has a much higher ceiling than Palmer but a lower floor, the latter is a solid Championship keeper but no more. I think his limitations are becoming clearer, especially with crosses and the weakness of his kicking. Won’t matter next season though. Muric though? He can be an excellent keeper or a total liability, all within the same week. Whatever his other failings, I don’t think we get that first win at Spurs without his second half performance, just the right level of sh1thousery to keep control of the game. I would be happy to persevere but I’ve seen what happens when Town fans make their collective mind up on a player, some can never provide any credit again.

And I fully expect him to reappear in a few years in the Europa League at a random Turkish club He has talent but was clearly a massive gamble on our part on the hope of finding a star on the cheap

Muric - Persevere or Not on 14:55 - May 5 with 1702 views | SuffolkPunchFC | Next season is our opportunity to get Muric right for the future - if the fans will get behind him. He is the best fit for our preferred style of play, and don't see KmK fundamentally changing that style. When watching back some of our games from the first half of the season, it's easy to forget how many great saves he made. He's excellent with crosses, commands his box and imposes himself on the opposition. We all know that his mistakes cost us some points, but don't overlook that we had a better first half of the season than so far this year, and conceded far few goals per game. Is that coincidence? I hope the backroom staff are working with him to get him to a good place, and then check him out pre season before deciding on our number 1 for 25/26. If they have been working with him, and improving his communication and 'decision making' successfully, I fear that if we let him go, someone else is going to benefit from a 'keeper that is outstanding over the coming years.
Muric - Persevere or Not on 15:07 - May 5 with 1660 views | Churchman | Persevere. I believe he is the most talented keeper we’ve got and with a little patience and support, including the haters in the crowd and on social media, I think he has a lot of potential. Having seen all three keepers they all have slightly different attributes but overall there’s not a lot to choose between them. If Muric could work on appearing less panicky I think it’d inspire more confidence in the defenders and in turn himself. For me that’s what bothers me the more about his game than mistakes. All goalkeepers have that in them. It’s the nature of the job.

I agree. He may be a bit introverted, and that is exacerbated if things don’t go to plan, but I think if he gets his comms with his defence right and stamps his authority on them then he is going to be an asset I can see some S-house teams looking to “get it in the mixer” next season and I would imagine he is ideally equipped to deal with that.

Has Turkey, Spain, Holland etc by the look. It's a shame as I'd love to keep him and come good, but too many fans have it out for him. I also worry Philogene is going to get the boo boy treatment the second he makes a mistake.

I'm with you on this Bloots. I doubt we'll sign a better keeper so might as well keep him. There seems to be a conscensus that Palmer is way better than Muric - but results really haven't picked up since palmer came in, so I'm not sure that Muric was the reason we were struggling. There are other factors - like the fact that all over the pitch we just weren't quite good enough!
