Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: 23:05 - Jun 2 with 4869 views | Marshalls_Mullet | Ait-Nouri delivered more goal involvements (11) than any other Premier League defender last term to underline his proficiency when joining attacks. In addition only Leif Davis (61), Pedro Porro (57) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (53) created more chances for team-mates to score than the former Angers man (46).

Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 10:29 - Jun 3 by PhilTWTD | I was talking to an ex-player the other day and he felt Premier League managers will see the issues Town had down that flank as down to the system and his more advanced role rather than Leif himself. |
I hope they listen to Danny Murphy and Alan Shearer - they know that all our ills in the PL were Leif’s fault - and we can do our best to cope with that problem next season…

Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 09:54 - Jun 3 by DanTheMan | Crazy that people think we'd be able to replace him. |
What's even more crazy is there were people actively calling for him to be dropped for Connor Townsend this season lol.

Personally I would sell him to the highest bidder and use the money elsewhere. H’e’s good offensively but has been found wanting defensively on many occasions this season. Townsend is a better defender imho.
Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 12:00 - Jun 3 with 789 views | naa | Glad to read some sense being spoken about how good he is and indeed has been this season. Wasn't that good defensively I hear people cry. Well two things 1) Cajuste and Greaves didn't cover as well as Burgess and Luongo used to and 2) his job in the team is primarily not about defending, hence his brilliant attacking stats. And he's still a decent defender believe it or not.

A star player in the league we're about to enter last time we were in it, and you want to ship him off because we conceded goals in the division above to which there is a huge jump? Come on man

The cover thing was crucial I think. Last season, Leif Davis rarely seemed to be caught out of position, and while that is partly because we didn't need to defend as much, I think it was also the cover from Burgess and Luongo meant he got away with it more. Davis did sometimes simply not mark the player he needed to; I remember Brennan Johnson being left absolutely free for both goals against as at home. He wasn't brilliant defensively this year, but he's still among our best players and it would be mad to let him go. Out of all the players at risk of being sold, Davis is the one I most hope we hold onto, followed by Hutchinson. He and Morsy were head-and-shoulders above the rest as our best players last season, and that was in a promotion-winning team that was greater than the sum of its parts.
| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all! | Poll: | Who should start in CM with Cajuste? |

Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 07:18 - Jun 3 by itfcjoe | This is interesting too, and will show why he’ll get interest this summer despite Ipswich fans being very down on him. He’ll be an excellent player at a good PL team |
It would need to be a team whose formation and style enabled him to play to his strengths without exposing his defensive weaknesses. Not sure who that team might be as most in the PL would demand a higher level of defensive craft. However, quite likely that someone would (rightly) feel they could develop that side of his game and retain his attacking prowess. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

In a thread in which many posters have discussed context around our left side you've decided to completely ignore context. We don't need the money, I think it would be silly to sell unless the offer is ridiculous. SB
Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 14:57 - Jun 3 with 562 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | Just wait until the Bournemouth LB, Milos Kerkez, moves to Liverpool this summer. I think Davis to Bournemouth will accelerate very quickly. It's a like for like replacement. That said, I wouldn't entertain anything that is below the £20m fee. Replacing him will be tough. I've said on another thread previously that what we should've done last summer was buy Harrison Burrows off Peterborough and loan him out ready for this summer. But moving forwards, Ryan Giles is a name who could be on the radar as he's got a good technical quality on the ball, but I'm not sure how well rounded the rest of his game is. Alfie Doughty may well appeal now that Luton are in L1, but honestly, it's a real hard position to draft a list of targets for due to the specialities required of the role.

Wonder if we would go for a more conservative left-back – Bola for example – to lighten the defensive responsibilities for Jack Clarke and Cajuste/AN Other.

Interesting Leif Davis stat in BBC Ait-Nouri story: on 07:31 - Jun 3 by Dubtractor | Exactly this. I've made the point a few times, but we'll have a much better chance of promotion if he is still here next season. Blows my mind that plenty on here say they prefer Townsend on the basis of his one (!) League start for us. [Post edited 3 Jun 7:40]

Plenty on here clearly know sh1t. But it doesn't stop them mouthing off on a regular basis. I would be gutted if Leif was to go, he will be so crucial to how we play next season.

We have Conor Townsend, who ought to do a decent job in that more cnservative role. Wonder how near they feel Somto Boniface is to being a first-team player and whether he'd be viewed as a potential back-up.

You'd hope they feel he is on the cusp of being 1st team ready seeing as he had a fair few games on the bench (admittedly due to needs must) but will be interesting to see how involved he is over the summer. On a semi related note, any other youngsters coming through who could be involved?

Think Henry Gray is probably the closest. Good season on loan at Braintree. A decent chance he takes the Slicker role next season I think to allow the latter out on loan.
