Another in a long line of atrocious appointments by the FA.

Management debate aside, the big difference was that Senegal broke quickly and ran with the ball at speed. We tried about 10 sideways passes before we reached anywhere near the edge of their box. None of our our players ran at their defence with the ball.

Whatever, how can a side that’s lost at home in the last two years, comfortably, to Senegal, Greece and Hungary be ranked four in the world? We’re three above the nations league champions having won nothing for 60 years.

While I think it's too early to being talking about getting rid, Tuchel really needs to start showing something soon. I'm not too bothered about an end of season friendly, but the performances in the three qualifiers so far have been limp and some of his squad and team selections just bizarre.

Should have been sacked the moment he recalled Henderson. An abysmal decision. Legs went 4 years ago.

Wouldn’t go that far but we’ve been absolutely terrible under him so far. What’s quite concerning is his squad selection, how Toney gets in ahead of Delap or Henderson over someone like Wharton I’ll never know.

Players didn’t look like they wanted to be there tonight after a long season.

Dire.

No point in calling Toney up to then give him only a couple of minutes plus added time in a friendly. Very odd.

Can sort of see the reasoning behind adding experience to 'the group' but does feel at the minute that it will be a decision looked back on as one of his big mistakes of a disappointing tenure.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Very worrying.

I always felt with Southgate it was be careful what you wish for moving forward.

Still the haters know best aye.

Its the way it is nowadays

Nothing like a good solid 4-0 home defeat to hungary eh?

I would've preferred Carsley and then when he didn't want it we should've done all we could do to get Howe.

However, it's too early to judge Tuchel. Whilst I'm not convinced that his management skills will transfer to international football, he may well come good and if he does we should be phenomenal!

It's a really short term contract though and he has been quick to tell us that he only has 5 camps or whatever it is.

I really can't see this going well tbh, I feel like he needed a decent start! For everyone calling people haters on Southgate, he had run his course and I very much doubt he wanted to stay in the job anyway after 4 tournaments.

Pretty shambolic from the FA as usual though. It was 50/50 if Southgate was going to go after Qatar and although you can't guarantee who you are getting in, this just feels like a bit of a hope and a prayer on a one year deal without much prior planning?

If he can't get a tune out of the players soon, I foresee problems and I wouldn't even rule out something crazy happening like him just walking away. We have had plenty of drama with England managers before, so crazier things have happened.

I will actually watch the highlights later I am more curious that if it was a routine 2-0 win to be honest.

Tonight was poor though credit Senegal.

Just seems very odd squad, selection and tactics so far under Tuchel.

Where's our identity?

I think he's trying to stuff out. England have so few meetings ups and given time it may not seem so crazy. Tuchel is or always has been quite methodical.

lol he's only had what 4 matches, 3 of them world cup wins. These players can't be arsed, it's June they want to go on holiday.

I didn't see all of it, but our defending for that last Senegal goal looked shocking, no excuse for that. If you're pulling on the England shirt you should care, or the manager should make them care.

Autumn camp and games become important now. There’s a few players that have started the last two games that shouldn’t be part of them.

That's an endemic problem in high-level English football all round, it's how the players (and many managers) are taught. Possession figures are the Holy Grail, above effective use or penetration.

While it is true that the opposition can't score if they don't have the ball - tho they might if they nick it while you're fiddling around - they're not going to let you through from sheer boredom, either. It's adequate in the unbalanced upper English divisions, where top teams have players of notably superior individual quality, but won't in an international arena where others have more dynamic philosophies.

The players have just finished a long season in the most demanding league in the world, and half them are off to yet another competition in a week or so. They are, unsurprisingly, just not up to the games at the moment.

There is just way too much pointless, corruption-driven international football at the moment. It’s breaking down.

Did we have an identity under Southgate? The amount of games we were poor under him. Let’s not pretend we played scintillating football in Southgate’s reign, at times it was painful viewing. The fact we did so well in recent tournaments disguises that fact. The last tournament a case in point, yes we reached the final, but my god it was like watching paint dry at times with our performances.

All three were tactical errors by the respective managers. The issue is Southgate had credit in the bank - though was a long way through spending it - and most, correctly, thought Carsley was a stop gap anyway. Bizarrely, he then did a brilliant tactical job in Greece which showed something lacking with many managers, namely the ability to adapt.

Five games in to Tuchel's reign and I have no idea what he's trying to do.

Ismaila Sarr played last night with the same approach he takes for Palace every week.

Would be nice to see some of the more progressive talents in English football, like Adam Wharton, in the national set up, to enable us to evolve. Unfortunately that’s not really compatible with a coach told to win something very quickly. It’s a bizarre appointment.

Another Palace boy, Eze, was one of our brighter players last night

Suggesting getting rid of an international manager after 4 games is absurd. He has barely had any time at all to work with the squad.

That being said England had a perfectly good manager in place that most of our fans wanted rid of for some reason. BCWYWF
