This is all I could find:

and I can't read it past the headline as it is behind a paywall. :-(

So did he turn down the Brentford job to go to spurs.

If so that must've been a big decision.

It sounded like he was simply on the 'list' to replace Frank, not a shoe in like some thought he was.

Interestingly Keith Andrews hasn't gone with Frank, so he may well be in line for the job.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

That's assuming he was definitely offered it

Of course, I'm not sure tbf just wondering because there seemed to be a bit of chatter about it online yesterday,

Excellent. More fools and their money who are about to be parted.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

4/5 with Cochrane still in the market.

So his odds are shorter than that

The reporting doesn't make explicit reference to them wanting him for the manager's job, only that they wanted to keep him there. Has definitely been whispers before that he was being lined up for it at some point though so would seem unlikely that he wouldn't have been in the frame for it at all.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

IMO that just cannot be accurate.

Nobody turns down a settled PL managerial job in favour of being an assistant at a slightly bigger club.

He's 43, it's not exactly like he's waiting for his shot.

That makes sense.

Obviously very highly thought of in the game.

Think his situation is slightly complicated by his involvement in the England set up. If he goes to Spurs he can keep doing that and go as part of the coaching staff to the World Cup next season. If he were to become Brentford manager that additional commitment probably becomes untenable.

Previously head of youth coaching at Man U, was also a coach at Spurs. That reads too much like McKenna's CV for me to be comfortable.

It sounds like a sensible plan to be fair. If he feels as a young assistant he’s still got plenty to learn and experience, why not stick with the manager you know and are learning from and take it to the next level. Spurs are undoubtedly a much bigger club with higher aspirations than Brentford.
Another 18 months or Two years at a club like Spurs, involvement in Champions league football will prove invaluable.
How does that now play out for us? I’m not sure but remaining a Premier League manager at a club a little further down the road than ourselves, might be tempting.

Plus you would imagine he has some knowledge about the players they are potentially losing this summer. He might see it as too much of a task to take on.

Not everybody wants the top job and the scrutiny and publicity that comes with it.
Some are better (and more comfortable) as coaches rather than out-and-out managers. Just look at our own Bryan Klug.

They're very good friends. From what I've read, he's head of coaching/first-team coach at Brentford rather than assistant, so may not have felt he's ready for the role. I think Brentford saw him as the successor though.

Phil, do you think this means KMc more likely to be approached? You would have thought if they had serious interest there may have been more noise. But maybe they expected Cochrane to take the role and haven't yet moved on to other candidates.

The lack of noise, compared to last year, is one of the reasons I'm not panicking at the moment. The latter is certainly possible, but you would have thought they would have some idea on external candidates. As others have pointed out, perhaps notable Keith Andrews doesn't seem to have departed along with the other coaches.
