Keith Andrews 11:58 - Jun 13 with 3316 views | portmanking | Now 1/6 on to be the new Brentford boss... Anything approaching 1/10 is effectively a done deal in terms of weight of money I'd say. EDIT: 1/9 offered now at Paddy's. I imagine someone with Irish links there knows something (hopefully!) [Post edited 13 Jun 12:00]

Keith Andrews on 12:03 - Jun 13 with 3222 views | Zx1988 | That's a very interesting development, especially given the relative lack of profile for KA in a coaching/managerial sense. I'm certainly inclined to think that someone knows something; be it a bookie's source, or someone making the sort of bet usually only associated with a degree of ITKness.

Clearly very highly thought of at Brentford and by all accounts has done a very good job as their set piece coach. They certainly seem to know what they're doing when it comes to recruitment, I hope Andrews does well. He made a massive contribution in his loan spell with us. Will be good to put the McKenna talk to bed if that's concluded.

Andrews always struck me as a smart cookie. He talks a good game as a pundit on the EFL and obviously has a keen eye for details being a set-piece coach. Brentford don't normally go down the conventional route when employing bosses either. WTF was all the fuss about? *mops brow* [Post edited 13 Jun 12:07]

For some reason I thought he signed for us permanently or at least had a couple of loan spells with us, so I was slightly surprised to see that he was with us for less than six months. I seem to remember he scored a cracker at one point (against Blackburn?)

Bookies don't normally cut as short as 1/9-1/10 until there's sustained, solid backing for him. Nothing has leaked online in the press either, so there's sure to be internal backing or those ITK.

silky player with a good shot, but there is no way on earth Jewell should have had him in the same team as Bullard. Defensive duties weren't their thing, we shipped a lot of goals. Good thinker of the game, comes across as a nice guy and I hope he does well. More than that, I hope he gets the job.

The only thing he did wrong was extending Jewell's reign with his goals at Barnsley.

He scored the goal of the game in that 7-1 debacle at Peterborough. Absolute screamer! In related news, Lee Martin was peak Lee Martin that day - still, perhaps, my most disliked Towun player of all time.

Selfish self interest apart, this does have all the hallmarks of a well thought out and balanced appointment though. Despite having no great love for Brentford, I really hope this works.

Brentford are a really well run club so you kind of expect their decisions to be good. This though actually has all the hallmarks of a bat s#@t mental appointment. However I don't underestimate them. I think the bigger thing is Claus Norgaard staying on as well. He almost has the better CV to be the manager. As a pairing it could work. Hell of brave decision though.

Agree with you. I actually think it is quite damning that Cochrane opted to go to Spurs and didn't want the job when he had been primed for it for a while. Wissa, Mbuemo and Collins all off? Imagine the three promoted clubs will be licking their lips if Andrews takes over.

Good point, the Spurs > Brentford cycle was always or most serious threat I think of dominos falling the wrong way. I think there was only 3 PL clubs who changed managed in season during 23/24 but there was 5 last year.

Well, they did appoint Marinus Dijkhuizen only to sack him after 9 games. Matt Benham is a shrewd operator and lifelong Bees fan, but hugely focussed on statistical analysis and if there is any debate the decision usually swayed by the numbers. Almost certain that he has crunched the numbers (whatever the numbers may be) on Andrews.

I've seen some reports that suggest that Cochrane was told he wasn't getting the main role and that was why he went with Frank.

0 losses as a premier league manager. Strong numbers by anyone's estimation!
