https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/25/israeli-forces-kill-three-palestin

'Dozens of Israeli settlers have attacked a Palestinian West Bank town, sparking a confrontation that ended with Israeli forces killing three Palestinians.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was killed by the Israeli army in the northern West Bank town of Al-Yamoun, amid a surge of violence and near-daily confrontations between settlers and Palestinians.'

When we are aware of all of the circumstances that may have occurred at that time I feel that is the right time to pass comment and decide on the rights and wrongs of any of the participants.
We are not in possession of any information regarding the events leading up to the situation as partially reported and until we have the experience of living in the environment that is existing in the area we should be more restrained in how we pass judgment.

I think I saw you on Newsnight the other night, only you were more shouty then.

I would love you to provide a list of circumstances in which it is acceptable to kill a 15 year old.

(For the record, it wasn't acceptable for Hamas to kill children and young people, or adults, either. But the thing about the West Bank is that it is run by Fatah, not Hamas, and the Israeli Government has undermined every attempt by the Palestinian Authority to run a functional, peaceful, independent territory there, just as it did in Gaza, which led to Hamas overthrowing Fatah there.)

For the benefit of the wider board, can you let us know what days we are OK with genocide and which we are not? I struggle with birthdays and bin days so I have got no hope of keeping up when it comes to genocide apology.

I have to say after seeing the Louis Theroux documentary, that Israeli settlers are absolutely provoking the Palestinians in conjunction with the army. They are 100 percent making them into a subjugated state.

I don't think all Israelis are like that but these settlers seem to have a cowboy mindset of just going after land they believe is theirs.

It's such a complicated f up that it's hard to see it ever resolving.

I’m just sick of him dominating the board with these repetitive threads on a daily basis. Why not stick to one thread as per the 36-pager (or whatever it is now).

However, I’ll take the advice and put him on ignore.

Possibly the most disingenuous response to a situation that has been going on since well before any Gaza conflict. Fortunately the Irish government have assesed what is actually going on in the West Bank and are acting ( unlike the rest of the EU / world ) on it. There is a fear that the bill will watered down due to pressure from the EU but there is a national desire to make the bill cover all exports.

He’s passionate and angry about what is happening there and has the right to highlight that situation on here whenever he wants to. You can agree or disagree or simply not open the threads.

But, if you were passionate and angry about an issue and posted a few threads on that how would it make you feel if someone said ‘have a day off?

Holy sh1t. That is disgraceful. Or is it a staged vote which they can vote against to show how much they really do care about the people in Gaza by allowing the tiny amount of aid they approve to continue?

I was about to say surely no one would be fooled but I can think of one person in Washington.

Just bad things only from one side though? I would agree currently Israel are committing more atrocities than Hamas, but just continually posting news from one side just looks like activism rather than debate. Not sure that was what the general tab was made for.

I'm not sure how much debate is possible at this stage. It's pretty well accepted as Israeli aggression at this point. The, "yeah, but what about Hammas?" narrative is currently a moot point.

100% with you on this. It's like having to walk past Speakers Corner every day. If I want a daily report about what's happening in Gaza I'll go to news sites.

It's not just "a few" though is it, it's pretty much daily.

I am also "passionate and angry about what is happening there" (as I think most people are).

I appreciate he's trying to keep the issue front, left, right & centre in everyone's minds, but there's no need to on here when it's front, left, right & centre of every news bulletin across all media anyway. Many of us come on here to escape the relentlessness of the news. I don't want to stick to 'football only' as I like to hear about other general things. You can't not see threads or posters when logged out.

I think the vast majority of us on here are already in agreement with BDD's line on this anyway; however, if I wanted to bring in the tiny minority who aren't, I'd try to do it in a way which encouraged them to engage, not put them off by constantly nagging them (aversion therapy?!).
