Glasto 08:50 - Jun 26 with 3000 views

Does anyone else get irritated by BBC coverage of Glastonbury?

Another year of the BBC trying to "give viewers the full Glastonbury experience" by interviewing middle class people with middle class presenters in sanitised areas while sitting on bright primary colour sofas with cushions.

Maybe just me, but that 'aint Glastonbury.

what's annoying is that EVERYTHING is AMAZING !

every damn band / singer / song / set / album / audience / ...

That sounds a bit like my experience at the Monsters of Rock festival at Castle Donnington,with added urine being thrown about in 2 litre bottles.

Remember sitting on plastic sinking into the mud at monsters of rock. A plastic bottle hit my mate who proceeded to stand up and shout at the swathes of people behind. For the next ten minutes we were the target for hundreds of bottles.

Shame BBC have ignored the real gig that is going on this Saturday. The mighty Iron Maiden at west hams tax payer paid for ground.

Yep, every time it’s on it’s the same. Things change, sh*t happens. I’m sure most of those who’ll go will have a great time.

I understand where the OP is coming from though - it’s a bit OTT by the Beeb, but on the other hand no other broadcaster does as much as they do to cover festivals and promote new (and old) music.

Yep. Main stage will be mostly naff, and the overall coverage may grate a bit (not everything is AMAZING in reality), but there will be some amazing acts on the other stages to catch on the i player.

I think the BBC coverage is excellent.
Has the festival changed? Yes, but overall it's still a great watch and listen on 6.

and saying every artist playing the gig 'absolutely smashed it' gets a bit tedious.

I still miss John Peel presenting it. When he used to politely say 'that was something I don't really much care for' you knew he thought it was sh-t.
