I take issue with that because a) I’m sure quite a lot of people gasped watching the clip of Bob Vylan (and I would argue that he has deliberately upped the rhetoric in order to garner such a reaction) and b) I’m not sure it’s fair to say that it was just mindless following of the crowd that made people anti-IDF, they’ve been doing some pretty awful things that most people are aware of.

Entirely commonplace in public discourse to wish for the destruction of foreign military forces, isn't it? You could cite pretty much any newspaper headline after the IDF attacks on Iran as an example.
