the same as any traditional media personality/group/presenter - they’re just doing it themselves and have a vastly larger audience. Hope that helps!

Yeah, seen that, I guess I am not their target demographic obviously.

Just realized it may have came across as disparaging to them and it wasn't intended as such, if they can make milions for themselves and others without being unpleasant 4rses etc then good on them. I just don't get it.

I have the same challenge (probably in my own head) with other "influencers" and who/what are they influencing etc so probably an age thing, guess it's a shift from traditional media to social media.

Ironically have worked in tech for 30 years, but really don't like social media . . .

I guess not knowing who the Sidemen are and wondering whether they are some Irish sectarian marching group or a group from Somerset who enjoy home-produced alcoholic drinks probably indicates we definitely have not been influenced.

You sound very jealous of young men who have become millionaires doing things that matter to them. Silly really, I get that some people 35+ aren't as in tune with the modern media landscape, but just writing it off as inane because you don't like it seems rather stupid.

I'm not a Sidemen fan, but it's hard not to be impressed at what they've achieved.

You can be impressed by what someone has achieved but still think it's inane

Are these the people who do the real life tinder thingy where they're disparaging to women? Literally the definition of inane, but impressive they've made a living out of stuff like that

They do a wide variety of content- it’s no more or less inane than any of the stuff in mainstream media.

Regardless of if it’s the Sidemen or any other creator, there’s always this kind of disparaging tone towards their profession/achievements from a particular age group of men.
I only actually noticed it when I started working in the space. It’s very Grandpa Simpson-esqe.

“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!”

Completely agree with the Grandpa Simpson stuff. See half of the Glastonbury threads on here!

From what I've seen of them though, it's pretty grim stuff where they judge women's appearances for likes.

Not seen anything else they do but hopefully it's not quite so regressive
