Surely we didn't anticipate losing 3/4s of our first team backroom staff this summer?!

Does feel like quite a turnover of staff this summer

Have we actually brought anyone in or is this more of departments running themselves.

With his role in particularly I think there's likely to have been a decent notice period so there's a good chance Ashton et all have known this one has been coming for a while

The Head of Strength and Conditioning was an internal promotion with someone brought in from outside to fill the lower role.

Much like players:

It’s a compliment to us. The price of success. Big clubs come calling.

But we’re attractive to their replacements too. Annoying, but a positive sign, and a much better position than the ‘old days’. At least we have people worth poaching!

Guess it's what happens when a club and its staff perform as well as we have over the past three years. Presumably most have been known about for some time and replacements lined up. Not ideal tho as whatever they were doing clearly worked!

If you recall in Ashton's end-of-season interview, he flagged that a number of people in the team will be leaving....he's known for a while about this one as Probert is a pal of his having worked with him for some time.

I would have thought (like in most places of work) it would be an open secret if someone was applying for a job or being interviewed.

As you said, I doubt that many departures are a complete surprise with the club either headhunting or advertising for replacements.

Funny isn’t it. I said months ago that I’d expect us to lose a lot of people back to the PL given the success we’ve had in recent season and many on the board accused me of scaremongering. It was inevitable but also a testament to what the new owners are building. I have no doubt that those moving on will be replaced with the next generation of talent but it’ll be a funny few weeks getting to learn all of the new faces.

What you said was we would lose a lot of players for below market value as that has happened to relegated clubs in the past.

You were challenged to give some examples to back up your assertion.

You didn't give any such example.

It's bound to happen when you sign quality people but get relegated. We'll replace with people just as good, if not better.

I didn’t mention anything about transfer fees, just simply that I expected we’d see a bit of an exodus.

Baggott to return? by SimonBatfordITFC 9 Apr 9:35
I think you’re right. Many of our fans seem to have the impression that we will keep our squad of PL players in the Championship but I just can’t see it.

The players themselves have ambitions to play in PL and can now class themselves as having that experience on their CV. Most of them are young and will be good mid-table PL players in time. Their agents will already be looking for the move back to the PL.

Add to that the 3 teams coming up will all need to add squad players, ideally with some PL experience, but without breaking the bank for PSR. I’m afraid that means the 3 going down are likely to be the source of these transfers.

You only have to look at last year and the players Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton picked up from the relegated trio to see that this is the case.

To top it all off, many of the prospects we signed were highly coveted by Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United. I really wouldn’t be surprised to see us lose 9 or 10 regulars in the summer.

But dare to say it and you’ll be downvoted into the abyss.

True, although I think a number of these moves may be down to geography, believe Probert is along those lines, nearer to family, Rich Carpenter looked similar having come from the Midlands initially and previously worked in Birmingham.

KM did allude to a big staff turnover this summer if you look back at his interviews at the end of the season.

Maybe we're also looking for a more 'powerful profile' in this department too.

So, even with your edited post it was players you were specifically referencing and not non-playing staff.

Have we seen the exodus of 9-10 regular players you stated? I suppose there is still time for another 4-5 to go (if you include the loanees in your numbers).
