I think to be fair he's streetwise enough, just a second too slow at times. He's doing all the right things but a tiny bit too slowly, but I bet he's got it in him to fix that quickly. Having said that most of that game while he was on was faster than most Championship games will be.

Have to give Matusiwa time. His first competitive start in English football, in an incredibly hostile environment and difficult game, and he did OK. There's lots more to come from him I'm sure.

Gutted about Clarke tonight. Was so poor and weak and lacking the basics principles of fight. Like a rabbit in headlights. I think he can be great if we are on the front foot in games but if he wants to be a regular then he has to do a hell of a lot more.I can forgive losing the ball etc taking men on and getting delivery wrong. But several times he just let people easily take the ball away or not compete properly to go and win a ball. Still think he can make a future here but that was the poorest I've seen him which is worrying in the champ.
Poor game and the ref ruined the flow really with so many soft free kicks which led to players playing for them. Didn't hurry players up to take free kicks/throws. A mess.

Need to cut Matusiwa some slack. That was a bit of a crazy, high-octane game to make your debut. Think it's all about who he's playing next to. Taylor doesn't cut it for me. Not strong enough. If Cajuste can deal with the physicality he could work well with Matusiwa. I think we need a third starting CM, even though we start with two and I'd prioritise that over a third striker ( supposing we get Akpom). | | | |

All opinions he did intercept play quit well but also caused problems for himself and the team by being loose with his passing in the wrong areas and to slow. Hence his booking.

I liked Matusiwa, he was frustrating a few times in the first half, no doubt, but I think he played a few quick balls well to show what he has that perhaps our centre pairing has been lacking a bit.
Yes he's adapting and wasn't perfect by any means, but he broke it up okay and was able to get a few decent passes away. I think he'll be really good once up to speed and especially with better more settled players around him than Taylor. |  | | |
