Who was it who asked the question "would that be given as a penalty if it was in the box?" On the commentary

Whoever it was, looking at the penalty Wrexham got you'd have to say, "yeah, probably, good chance it would "

I thought exactly the same after seeing the incident. Don Goodman was probably looking in the wrong direction when that happened.

Although the Sky compendium of comments probably is slightly ambivalent when it come to the lightly-applied karate chop across the throat.

They often say ‘would that be given as a foul if it wasn’t in the box’ about potential penalties not awarded. You can’t really have it both ways.

They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

Its not against the grain, just wrong.

The attacker literally jumps into Greaves' back with no interest in the ball.

Literally jumps into his back without an interest in the ball, as Greaves is trying to head the ball.

Clearly impedes, not competing for the ball in any meaningful sense. More significant impact than a two handed push would be- which we would all agree was a foul, I suspect.

After watching it back it was a foul, and the ref got that right.
However, seeing Greaves hit the deck is so common that in real time I thought he’d just gone down way too easy.

Dangerous old game when a defender leaves it to chance for the ref to get the decision right.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the PL, it’s how to win a foul.

There were some nasty ones from Brum, for sure, but I thought we looked for some of weaker ones.

I'm with you Benters, 50/50 on it, there is contact and I am not so sure how much it really impedes him. Tbf I would be livid it it had been blown against us and we went on to put the ball in the net. I also listened to Greaves Sky interview after the match and he said he felt contact, but it didn't to me sound like Greaves thought it as a blatant foul but one you sometimes get for or against you.

Such a clear foul.

I would want Greaves to be stronger but not a controversial decision to me

Contact ? He launched himself both feet off the ground into his back, of course it was a foul

What baffles me more is if he gives the Greaves one as a foul for contact, how when 15 yards away and looking at it with an unobstructed view did he not give the NFL style block on O'Shea.

You must have seen a different camera angle to me. I think launch is a little strong. As I say I can see why it was given I am just not of the opinion it's as clear cut as some others like yourself see it.

Greaves has his eyes on the ball, Brum player jumps into him and pushes him out of the way so he completely misses the headers. Foul all day long.

Pen was incredibly soft. Let’s remember that when a decision goes the other way!

Yes watch it again he jumps into the back of Greaves both feet off the ground and nowhere near the ball . Obvious foul for me and the Ref to his credit had blown before the ball went in the net .

I haven't seen the foul on Greaves so will wait to watch that back but the penalty was absolutely clear. You can argue about whether the rule is right but it is 100% a penalty as the rules stand. Both Davies and Chambers said they called it before the ref even blew for it and laughed at Morrison for suggesting it was anything but one. Davies did add that he doesn't agree with the rule, though.
