We have too many keepers, at least one had to go. I think he is the right one to be leaving.

I agree in principle, but in practice it's just a position you can't hide in; you can't recover confidence and trust with the defence and the 'supporters' and one or two mistakes - which will happen for every keeper - just sets you and the club so far back. I hope he does very, very well on his loan and gets a good permanent move , good for him and for Town, at the end of it. Whether there's been a language/personality issue or what, he could he a helluva keeper in the right environment. Good luck Aro.

He's the best keeper at the club and the others don't even come close to him.

Me too. I suspect this will end up being one that got away! He clearly have some talent as a keeper, and if he can get his head right, he'll go on to be a force.

Can't agree with that at all. You can't ignore the massive howlers that he makes with alarming regularity. If you just focus on his ability on crosses then sure, he's better than the others in that department. Shot stopping he's hit and miss, likely to make a worldy then let one in that goes straight down the middle of his goal. With his feet he tries to play like Ederson when he's closer to Nick Pope. He might be better than Palmer with his feet but he's not great with them by any stretch. I just don't see it, I think the passing of time and Palmer being a bit meh has led to a lot of revisionism when it comes to Muric. He was largely a car crash last season.

Worry not, you can move on to your next scapegoat now. Lets see. You've done Davis, Philogene, Muric (obvs), Taylor, Johnson I think I can recall too. Hirst as well. Have you tried Cajuste yet? I can't remember.

Muric deal done on 14:19 - Aug 12 with 2430 views | Clutch | A very poor keeper in quite a few.important areas, especially decision making and communication. Plus seemed a bit of a bad egg, always found it weird how hardly any other players interacted with him on social media etc, dont think he settled at all.

Bit premature I'd suggest. A loan deal and option for them to buy isn't quite a slam dunk in terms of recouping the £8m + add ons (unlikely) + signing on fee + 7 figures of wages we've sunk in to this deal in exchange for a handful of largely error strewn performances.

Opinions eh?! Personally think he's better than Palmer but clearly it's gone past the point with Muric, which is a massive shame. A new keeper would be 2nd on my list after another centre mid, and I genuinely think it's that important. But probably feels like one deal to many for us to sort this window.

If they take up the €10m option we will. There must be a half decent loan fee too. A lot of people on here thought we'd be having to let him go for close to zilch as he was that bad. [Post edited 12 Aug 14:23]

Muric deal done on 14:25 - Aug 12 with 2300 views | tetchris | One or two good games doesn’t make up for all the howlers and poor decisions he made last season. There were games where town lost or drew which could have been wins and he was mainly responsible. McKenna obviously doesn’t rate him as given him the no 49 shirt and now shipped him off to Italy.

I actually voted for Cajuste for player of the season. I'm not far wrong though am I apart from Davis who is a top championship left back but struggled regards defending in the Premiership. As for the others I mentioned have not been up to standard required including Philogene and Johnson . As a bloke I liked Kayden Jackson but again was not good enough to wear the shirt.

You can say the same re. howlers for most of the back line, midfield and even wingers last year though. The truth is, we were not good enough as a team. People bang on about how Muric's blunders must affect the team's confidence in him, but there were terrible mistakes from all over the pitch. What about Muric's confidence in his teammates? That seems to be conveniently ignored when people turned on him.

He's the definition of 'got something about him'. The way he commands his 6 yard box and some of the saves he's capable of, his physical profile, his schooling. At times he looks every bit a Premier league keeper and does seem like a rough diamond in some respects. Like a young David James. But at 26 does he have the mentality to straighten that out? I would question it, he looked like a rabbit in headlights at times. Sadly he's dropped too many b0llocks here and he's probably on a decent whack. Its a no brainer to move him on and put it down as a pretty expensive flop. Minimising the extent of that expense is the only question.
Muric deal done on 14:36 - Aug 12 with 2091 views | charlie1 | When his mere existence prompts booing from knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers it’s probably best to find another club. Hopefully he’ll find a set of fans who are prepared to support and encourage him through a rough patch of form…

And yet he is the only one of our keepers who has attracted any interest from other clubs!

I think if you ignore the frequent massive howlers then you can make a case he's got better fundamentals than Palmer. But I can't ignore the frequent massive howlers, for us last season he cost us a lot of points with those howlers. We'll need a new keeper if we go up, Palmer is not a Prem keeper. But he's a solid if unspectacular Championship keeper and for now we have other priorities. I really like the look of Charles at Wednesday but it'd be a big gamble to pin our hopes on him.

Palmer's fine. I think we've ironed out the keeper situation pretty well, we've cut our losses on Muric and left ourselves with 2 solid and experienced heads at this level and a seasoned 3rd choice player / coach hybrid. If we go up then Walton presumably leaves on a free, Palmer goes to back up and we go again on a #1.
