While we are firmly in the worry about ourselves camp at the moment after the start to our season, I don’t think it won’t take too long for their director of football to be under pressure if he gets two appointments wrong in two years. Backed both in the market as well. Three home defeats on the spin and got a tad lucky at Pompey by all accounts.
Manning is usually a bit of a slower starter but hopefully it continues this way for them! |  |

I read the various threads on the Pink 'Un forum for a laugh - one reckons Manning won't even make the derby in October. Jolly good. Especially as they don't know who they'd want in, apart from Warnock temporarily 'to sort this lot out and tell us who's worth keeping'.

Had Portsmouth not missed a penalty against them, the Budgies would be behind us in the table.
Plenty of time for Manning to settle down and get them moving, but it’s become a tough job in a post-Farke world. Their relationship with Dean Smith was one of mutual loathing, They didn’t like the football they played under David Wagner despite it getting them a play off place and continuing “the streak”. From what I understand, the hierarchy had a choice of either backing Johannes Thorup or the players, and they went with the players. A Talk Norwich City thumbnail flashed up on my YouTube homepage a week or so ago, with the heading “No need to panic” on it which seemed premature in mid-August. |  | | |

I would have thought that they would have forgotten about the Prem by now. Even the most deluded budgie in the cage must realise how very, very far they are away from that world.
I've been surprised at how uniformly poor the Championship football I've seen this season (all of it) has been compared to what we got used to last season - compared to how we played last season even - the gap is HUGE. And the budgies are nowhere near the level of upper Championship from what I've seen, and what their own fans are saying.
So if any of them are thinking about themselves as a yo-yo club still, or with any aspirations of getting promoted this season or having any players who might be up to it (even Sarjent imho), that's actually a crippling, unrealistic expectation on their lower Champ / upper L1 reality, rather than a helpful aspiration.
It probably explains why they are so quick to turn on their new managers and must be one hell of a millstone around their collective neck.
Compare that to the unconditional support we have largely given to Town through the L1 rebuild to probably the last few months of the Prem and the as yet unfinished transfer window that seems to cause so much premature angst. We've got to be careful we don't go down the same dreary hole that they have, but I fully expect us to all be full of beans again in a month or so, and climbing up to the top before Christmas. | |

They do look miles off it, but, playing devils advocate, should they be? I think their fans would say they’ve been one of the biggest spenders in the championship over the last few seasons, have one of, if not the, most consistent goalscorer in the championship, they’ve got one of the biggest wage bills and highest ticket prices. With that in mind I think their fans would expect to be in the mix for the top 6 so can see where the angst is coming from, even if it’s batsh!t to be calling for a managers head after a few games.
