That is a remarkable amount of money for someone of that stature.
I really can't see how a squad full of that sort of player on that sort of money could possibly be justified in terms of any kind of return. Even considering the sportswashing/soft power ideas, which presumably are what this is all about.

I don't think there's much risk of us going for him and that sort of financial commitment. He'll probably cost somewhere in the region of £20m+ over the next 4 years with signing on fee & wages, even if we could afford it you would have to think that's ludicrous, he'll be incredibly hard to move on in the meantime if we wanted to and would have very little resale value in to his 30's. |  | | |
