Woolfenden Good Riddance! 12:55 - Sep 1 with 10107 views | ThatMuhrenCross | Probably will be my least missed member of the back-to-back group. Arrogant, lazy, constantly bickering with fans, vocal about how he’s not actually a Ipswich fan despite being a local lad, pushed for a move when we were at our lowest, supporting Downes when he downed tools, supporting Omari when he did the same, and then petulant cryptic social media posts like we saw the other day. Add to that, he’s a decidedly average defender that was carried by the rest of the team. Yeah, he can ping a pass, but even at that he’s not as good as O’Shea. Thinks he’s something that he’s not. Won’t be missed.

Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 15:16 - Sep 1 by FrimleyBlue | Im seriously at the point in wondering who is actually calling the shots, esp with chappers looking to be off too. I can't believe any manager would rip up a squad inside 18 months. |
McKenna even highlighted the issue of losing too many of the promotion group. If Chaplin leaves alongside Woolfenden then that leaves just Burns from the pre-McKenna days. He can't say this isn't the squad he wants unless he has less say than we think.

I support all our players, and love many of them. But Woolfenden has always been one I've struggled with. Not my cup of tea at all. |
So you’re admitting you’re prejudiced. Gonna keep my comments 🤐 otherwise Phil might delete them - actually, perhaps your OP should be deleted.

If Chappers goes too, I’ll conclude that KM has little say in departures and incomings, and that others are calling the shots.

25 man squad - if Harry Clarke is left out and Chaplin leaves alongside Woolfenden there will only be three double promotion players in it. Walton, Davis and Hirst.

Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 15:40 - Sep 1 with 1453 views | HighgateBlue | Oh gosh, I cannot agree with this, and I'm grumpy AS. It's a shame, and it's not even good money. But it was inevitable once Kieran had decreed his pecking order. I get the antipathy towards Hutch for how he carried on. I don't think Woolfy has been too bad. I didn't love the social media post, but I understand the frustration. I think he's always given his all, and did well in a period of success including by bringing the ball out from the back. But I appreciate not all agree with that. Are we actually much better now, having spent an awful lot? Time will tell I guess.

Woolfenden has been a valuable assett to the squad and I shall be sorry to see him leave, I understand why he wants to go As an aside, and for the information of anybody who feels the need to attack him personally, i know for a fact that off the pitch he has acted in a very kind way to some members of the Blues Foundation. In one particular instance, he went out of his way to give 2 children a wonderful life experience. I really hope Chappers isn't going too.

Thank you for the second paragraph in particular. Just because off field work is not promoted doesn't mean it isn't taking place.

Credit where credits due. Chappers is another who has worked hard 'off duty'. My favourite moment of his is his Sarmiento celebration - how happy was that?! Sorry for them to go but good luck to both

You were rightly ridiculed for this post and since then you’ve again been ridiculed for your hot take on Azon. Which player are you going to pathetically criticise for your hat-trick?

Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 13:20 - Sep 1 by pointofblue | This is the baffling thing about McKenna's approach. Not just with Woolfenden but with the likes of Burgess and Broadhead. "We want to keep them we want them to be here..." Yet all three were replaced at the first opportunity upon promotion which makes the words sound hollow. |
I don't think anyone can criticise KM. It was obvious from our short and unspectacular stay in the Premier League that we just weren't good enough. There were glimpses of potential, but nothing more, We got shot of Omari and Delap for excellent money, some £67.5 million. Delaps out injured and Omari might just swap places with us if we get promoted. The Philogene purchase was seriously questioned by many, even myself as I thought the money needed spending elsewhere. But I and many got that totally wrong. I think we can say that many of the new recruits are an upgrade on what we had and whilst it is wonderful to have players who are local or even brought through the ranks there are few exceptions to that happening especially in today's world of needing instant success.
Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 19:18 - Oct 6 with 937 views | BloomBlue | A lot of Town fans were jealous of Woolf purely because he was popular with the ladies, and that resulted in their negative comments, and it had nothing to do with his footballing ability.

Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 13:05 - Sep 1 by NedPlimpton | I disagree with an awful lot of that, but it does feel like he's suddenly gone from being one of our weaker links when we got promoted to the prem, to being a 'top-quality' championship defender. I'll miss him and would have loved for him to stay, but only as back up to O'Shea. That clearly wasn't going to work for him and that's fair enough |
except he signed his new contract knowing exactly that was the situation. fair enough if he doesnt want to be a bench warmer (we'll see at the end of the season how thats worked out for him) but all he had to say instead was I wanted the opportunity to play every week, which Town couldnt offer me anymore, because yes weve bought a bunch of players who we rate more. thats it, doesnt have to be some bunch of odd social media posts and rumour mongering. Omari I kind of forgive for the way he left, because hes young, inexperienced, and his agent was key to it. but Woolfie, he should be right at the peak of his footballing abilities in his career, and should have the experience and maturity to go along with that, which clearly he still doesnt have.

The squad was upgraded on promotion. Were we supposed to buy players that were worse than we already had ? [Post edited 6 Oct 21:58]

Woolfenden Good Riddance! on 22:07 - Oct 6 with 735 views | Kievthegreat | Personally, he was a great player for us in League 1 and the Championship. I think he did alright in the Prem when asked as well. However the fact is we have a better player in O'Shea to play in as our right sided centre-back and we don't play a system that uses 3 CBs (which would suit him best TBH). As such Luke was either going to be a back-up or he would move on. Hyperbole about he being lazy, not good, arrogant etc... Just comes across bitter. He has slightly tainted his legacy with his social media activity and now his unprofessional comments about perceived politics, but just like Omari who left under a cloud (albeit a bigger one), I wish him well in every game he isn't playing against Town. EDIT: Hadn't realised this was a necro'd thread, I still stand by the opinion though. [Post edited 6 Oct 22:10]

I wasn't criticising Azon, I was merely asking what his game was as I couldn't figure it out. We saw more of him Sunday, and potentially starting to see what he's about.
