Chaplin to Portsmouth on loan… on 15:54 - Sep 1 by Lanky | This window has left me completely disillusioned with the club and the season ahead. How to destroy such a good wave of momentum in such a short space of time. |
This window has done that? What momentum? We were getting pumped every week in the PL with Morsy, Chappers and co.

Johnny Norway too I guess

Chaplin to Portsmouth on loan… on 15:43 - Sep 1 by _clive_baker_ | Loan just makes no sense to me. Only plus side is he can't play against us, but a loan? Surely he's worth keeping around if that's the alternative. Had we got £6m for him you might say OK, fair enough he's dropped down the pecking order take the money. He's gone on loan and his contract is up at the end of the season? Just bizarre and a lack of foresight IMO. |
I thought loan players can play against owner clubs in the EFL, just on in the PL.

Chaplin to Portsmouth on loan… on 15:55 - Sep 1 by Sarge | He was ruthless last season and we suffered for it. This smacks more of clueless. |
I actually starting to doubt the ethos at Portman Road. One of our most committed players. Not sentiment but the replacement signings don’t seems to add anything.

Nope. The UK is about the only country that doesn’t allow loan players to play against parent clubs. Pretty much every other league in Europe (and the World), do.

We've got four rightbacks (and just signed one of them) but instead we're losing the one holdover in our fractured attacking department | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Each to their own opinion, but as a club with parachute payments and £80m+ in player sales, our squad is nowhere near. We’ve allowed essentially the entire squad that got us success to leave for free / peanuts and replaced them with a group of individuals that are only here for the money. Not to also mention loads of staff leaving behind the scenes. Going into the season with Baggott, Humphreys & Taylor taking up spots in our 25 is extremely poor planning. 4 right backs, no natural back up for Leif and now no natural 10. What on earth has been our strategy this transfer window? (It’s not like we didn’t know we were relegated since February). Just my opinion of course, you’re entitled to think differently.

Chaplin to Portsmouth on loan… on 15:59 - Sep 1 by pointofblue | Yes, realised that immediately afterwards. Unless there is some deal in place so they can have him on loan now. Another player let go for free in thanks for the job done, akin to Morsy? |
Squad wise/talent wise we have better when all fit. But agree on the ‘sentimental’ side here for Chaplin. Maybe this is reward for Chaplin to move back to a former club. As the finances make no sense otherwise

Yeah, there's far more questions than answers coming out of this window. We've got to be the first parachute club to not have a position of strength in several seasons. Still, the Americans are reaping what they sow in some ways by allowing Ashton to run riot as a CEO, Chair and faux Sporting Director rolled into one.

This is a bit sensationalist - we've got probably 15 players who would walk into every team in the division, the best manager in the league and money to spend in January if we need it. Chaplin is an Ipswich legend but is on the periphery here going forward unfortunately.

We don't need to clear further space, with Woolfenden and Al-Hamidi going, as long as we don't register Harry Clarke. Palmer, Walton, Button, Furlong, Johnson, Davis, Young, O'Shea, Kipre, Greaves, Baggott, Matusiwa, Cajuste, Nunez, Taylor, Humphreys, Akpom, Burns, McAteer, Philogene, J Clarke, Szmodics, Chaplin, Hirst, Azon

Chaplin to Portsmouth on loan… on 17:10 - Sep 1 with 90 views | dirtyboy | Got to say i'm not happy about this. Chaplin got 13 goals and god knows how many assists last time we were in this league and was everything you want in an Ipswich player, honest, hard working and could finish to boot. Letting him go is a mistake. Only thing I can tihnk of is that it's a deal like Morsy and others have got, if we can let you go and you want it, we won't stop you as a thank you? We'll never know until their careers are over I guess.
