You want the prem because it's the top league

But as a football fan.. is it wrong that watching prem football does nothing for me and that I love the ugliness of championship and lower league football

Watching city v utd today. I just felt I'm just watching tippy tappy passing for 90 minutes. Barely any battles on the pitch. No real defensive mistakes that made it fun to watch. Just a bit of a bore fest despite 3 goals and perhaps more.

I'm sure we all loved the Premier League under George Burley when we had a cracking season and played some beautiful football.
Short memories some people.

Don't think you understand the point. When you watch town it's different. Your watching with different emotions

Also prem football was different in the late 90s early 00s. To what it is today

I tend to watch whatever league Town are in as that's the league I'm invested in, only caught maybe two Championship games last season and only half a Prem game this season. The quality and standard in the Prem is light years better than the Championship though and as a neutral it's a far better watch, I'm just not that invested in it when we're not playing in it.

I agree. I am still pi55ed about going down last year. If we had managed to stay up, I would be hoping we could become an established PL side like Bournemouth and Brighton have yet I still prefer Championship football as it’s far more entertaining and unpredictable.

If it wasn’t for the top 6 in the PL, it could be a more competitive and entertaining league but there is so much money at the top, we are at a massive disadvantage when we do go up again.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm perhaps seeing some value in a European Super League.

Man C, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manu, Chelsea and Spurs can all compete in a league with Barca, Madrid, PSG, Milan and the like. They can see their stadiums filled with neutral supporters wearing half 'n half scarves and they can be stuck there forever. They can buy the best players and managers in the world, playing tippy-tappy football backed by owners with limitless financial resources. All competing with no restrictions whatsoever. Permanently open transfer windows. No relegation. No way out of it. Make it like an international Saudi League where it's only about money and nothing to do with geographical identity. Let mega-rich, foreigner-owned football clubs eat themselves.

No thanks,we had nearly 20 years of that under Evan’s. And if you think the fans will stick around then forget it,most won’t. We need to be successful to keep the interest or we could end up in league 1 again. It baffles me how some supporters want this. Utter nonsense.

If so called fans are only going for success and will walk away if they don't get it, then they can walk.

Having previously been against the idea, perhaps I'm no longer so wedded to opposing that super league idea where top dog can go on eating top dog in an endless groundhog fixture list. Meanwhile, the top English division gives the rest a chance to do what, in the past, has been achieved by such as Leicester, Derby, Notts Forest, Blackburn and, of course, ourselves.

Ask Brighton, Brentford, Fulham or Bournemouth fans that question.

I get the point. Emotionally you need wins, that is why that season under Burley it was the best feeling ever.

Of course we all loved the promotions, leaving the ground buzzing, but the football played in the Prem is different level.

On a side note, what kind of players would we attract if the club had the attitude that we want to stay in the Championship?

I have made no secret of wanting us to stay in the Championship. Obviously I want us to be as successful as possible, but the PL is just so sterile.
8th in the Championship and a quarter final or better cup run every 3 years and then MK1 would be a very happy bunny.

If you aim for 8th every year, I can assure you we'll be back in League 0ne within three seasons. Good players won't be interested in joining a club with zero ambitions of promotion.

You’re not wrong at all. The championship is a more rounded competitive league with many more unknowns . I irony of getting this club where the owners want it (established prem club) is that is will be a lot less enjoyable and entertaining as a fan base playing in a league you’ll probably finish mid table in every season give or take a few positions. Maybe that will all change I like to be optimistic

Yep. I love this club and only ever want success for us, including promotion to the PL. Trouble is, I (as I've said before) despise the Premier League. It's horrible. Glory-hunter 'fans', corporate nonsense, pathetic falling over, 24/7 non-story TV coverage and the overwhelming stink of dirty money. So yes, I of course celebrate and delight in promotion but the destination of that promotion isn't something I enjoy.

Not for me. I want to see us sit at the big table, and try and be as successful, both on the pitch, and off the pitch financially as possible.

Whilst we struggled last time, I think it would have been a massive learning curve, to exactly what you need to be able to compete at the top division, and I think we will adapt far better if we were to return, we will be far better equipped to adapt.

That's where I want us to be, and I dream of European Tour - what an adventure that would be for the fans.

It's a bit rubbish when the promised land is such a let-down

Blah blah, journey is better than the destination

Maybe we will all feel a bit better if we can give the Prem a bit more of a go next time

Well, exactly. The Prem was a let-down, largely because we became hopelessly uncompetitive, like the other promoted clubs. I'll be interested to see how the promoted clubs finish this season because, if we can't be competitive without near bankrupting the club & breaching FFP, I'm already asking "what's the point"?

I love the Championship as its more of a level playing field and on any given day, pretty much anyone can beat anyone. It's that unpredictability that makes it exciting. Whereas you get a match like Man City vs Burnley for example - you know there's only going to be one outcome. it's just a matter of how many Burnley will concede.
