Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:16 - Oct 10 with 2583 views | LeBlue | I always pop in for at least a pint before the match. Always busy but not rammed as it is such a big space. Bar service is so much better than it used to be too. Normally a game on the big TV and lots of activities for the kids. When they have a guest speaking on the stage though, this needs some improvement.
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:18 - Oct 10 with 2542 views | SheffordBlue | I travel quite a way for home games and rarely go into the Town itself so having somewhere to meet up with people next to the ground is good. I think when the West Stand gets extended and the ropey astroturf finally goes then we might see some more permanent structures here which would be good. In the winter it's not much fun!

I don't think it helps local pubs and eateries if thousands of people are there from 1pm on a Saturday, but it does create opportunities for others. Each to their own and I get there's more for kids to do. I never use the fan zone at PR, can count on 1 hand how many times I've been in there, I much prefer to share the love around the Town pre match personally.
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:21 - Oct 10 with 2517 views | Meadowlark | I go to the pub. Perhaps on the rare occasions I take the grandkids (lack of tickets) I should give the fanzone a look?
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:25 - Oct 10 with 2483 views | Guthrum | I don't get to PR very often, but the Fanzone is a good place to meet people and have a beer before the game. Can socialise without having to march to the ground after (or risk missing kick-off through too much conversation).

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:33 - Oct 10 with 2419 views | Freddies_Ears | Ours is one of the largest (possibly, the largest) in England. This season, the bar is even longer, and the queuing system abandoned as there are no queues - the extra servers make a big difference. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:56 - Oct 10 with 2265 views | hillbillies | Ours has been a real success down the years I think. Constantly packed and seems really popular. Think a big issue up the road is they are moving the away fans into the River End and forcing 3,000 season ticket holders out of their seats with no consolation or anything. Announcing it 2 days before the derby wasn't great ha!
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 10:57 - Oct 10 with 2252 views | LeightonBuzzardBlue | When I visited solo for the Blades game I was quite happy with it. Rocked up, got a beer, stood around and watched some stuff on the big screen, got some scran. Felt very safe and homely, then just a nice quick and easy walk to the stand
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:02 - Oct 10 with 2185 views | SamWhiteUK | I like the fanzone. It's a little pricey compared to local pubs/bars, and I probably do prefer going to Curve bar or whatever, but the fanzone is great for what it is and I concur with the poster above about going to the game alone. The big screen means there's something to do while you're there, rather than go to a pub and not really know anyone and just stand around like a lemon
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:06 - Oct 10 with 2153 views | SitfcB | Ours is good because of the space we have, doesn’t compare to anywhere else IMO. I use it when I have to but never my first choice of venue but appreciate it is a decent one.

Agreed. It serves a good purpose for some. I doubt it takes that much trade away from the pubs tbh, I don’t think you get the heavy drinkers going to the fanzone.

Whilst I agree I don’t think the fanzone is really at the detriment of other town centre locations on a match day, they’re still extremely busy. I’ve only ever been in the fanzone on the handful of times I’ve taken my daughter & it’s been good for that; but wouldn’t bother any other time.

I think we have the best of both worlds in that pubs like the Arcade Tavern, Greyhound, Black Horse etc do very well on matchdays but there is also the fanzone for those who maybe park close to the ground and don't want to go into town. Having experienced a few fairly pitiful "fanzones" on away trips ours is great in terms of space. Could do with a few more vendors but as someone else said, at least they now usually have enough staff to keep the beer queues down.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:29 - Oct 10 with 1952 views | hype313 | Our has got better, the choice of food is far superior now with the Forge van and Wok Wraps and a few others, would be nice if it was still open post match, but can understand in the winter months around 5pm it's probably not the best place to stand and mingle.

Hard to say I guess. It must have some impact, unless we're assuming everyone in the fanzone wouldn't otherwise go to town centre alternatives. Being balanced about it though it does create other opportunities and jobs, so its swings around roundabouts in terms of local impact. Its not that deep anyway, I just prefer a proper pub with a glass personally. I've always assumed its a bit plastic cuppy, but appreciate its horses for courses. When my little ones are a bit older and going to games I'll probably use it more.

Their consolation is that they don't have to watch Norwich play from such a good vantage point.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 11:57 - Oct 10 with 1759 views | stonojnr | I'm not sure they're dead against it as such, but their club has done such a p poor job of explaining to them what it will be for, compounded with the move for season ticket holders, their famous fans gaslighting them about it all, that they've lost the goodwill and trust of their fans that this is of benefit to them. Ive only been in ours twice i think, and thought it was terrible, but I can see why people use it, its just not for me, id rather drink or eat in local pubs, the beer is better and cheaper, though i often wonder how many of those clearly going to the game queuing at the hot dog stand in town realise the exact same food seller stand is in the fanzone. But if your a family with easily bored kids then its great I guess but its not on my list of musts on match days.

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 12:44 - Oct 10 with 1544 views | WubbleU | Up the road they have used the fanzone as some sort of smoke screen for the 3000 seat moves. People can see the real reason is they want the current away end for high value hospitality space. Current fans won't get all of the seats in the current away end. They will be scattered into all those empty seats that have appeared now they are poo. Our time will come, more hospitality suites planned which will be prioritised over new season ticket sales and I'd put money on away fans being out of Cobbold in next few years. Lots more seat moves and upset ahead...modern football...
Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 13:34 - Oct 10 with 1354 views | Metal_Hacker | Last Sunday I had a couple in Town and then decided to try it out . Got in around 10.45 just after the coach arrival and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised Lots on offer and good choices , seemingly supporting local businesses with their stalls and above all else a good sense and feeling of community Yeah I'd visit again

Thoughts on our Fanzone? on 13:37 - Oct 10 with 1327 views | Basuco | I have been quite a few times although not this season yet, I think it is very good, previously they have had a past player or current injured player speaking about team selection and someone, journalist or ex-player, to speak from the opposition point of view, both were usually very good. Although not sure if this is still done, the food seems pretty good but beer selection cannot ever be as good when compared to a good landlord who really knows his beer and customer base.
