Glasgow Rangers sniffing around KM on 07:57 - Oct 12 by SuperKieranMcKenna | Not a chance they could afford him. Isn’t he something like 5th/6th highest paid manager in England. Plus any release clause. Last time round they went for Russell Martin, not sure this is serious journalism. |
He won’t be now (relegation clause), but no way they could afford the compo. No way he leaves us for anything other than established PL.

Nowhere close to top 6. He was mid lower half in the PL last season, and has probable slipped a few places with managers moving around since then. Don’t perpetuate Darkhorse’s inaccurate rhetoric please

Glasgow Rangers sniffing around KM on 06:43 - Oct 12 by WeWereZombies | McKenna is not being mentioned in the BBC speculation around Gerrard refusing the job: 'The Ibrox club could have gone and got Derek McInnes after sacking Philippe Clement...would make a lot of sense for a lot of reasons - his understanding of the club and of Scottish football and an ability to take charge of a dressing room and mould a successful unit...Now...he is part of a Hearts set-up that is clearly going places and it is difficult to see McInnes leaving, having committed to an exciting new project at Tynecastle. He has also turned down his former club once before, in 2017. Sean Dyche is another whose name has been mentioned. He worked with Kevin Thelwell at Everton, where he steadied a ship that was in serious trouble, making them much more difficult to beat, a quality he is renowned for...overachieved at Burnley, though expectations there are vastly different from those at Ibrox. He has also been linked with Nottingham Forest, which might prove more appealing. There are a number of other names flying around. In hindsight, Barry Ferguson and his team would have been a significantly better appointment than Martin had they been put in permanent charge after last season's interim stint, but it seems unlikely the new owners will revert to them. Kevin Muscat has rightly been part of the discussion over recent vacancies at Ibrox having enjoyed success in Australia, Japan and China, while Gary O'Neil has English Premier League experience and Danny Rohl is highly rated, though another young and relatively inexperienced coach may be considered too much of a gamble.' https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cvgqgqd9z9yo [Post edited 12 Oct 6:45]

Glasgow Rangers sniffing around KM on 00:11 - Oct 12 by Bigalhunter | Sean Dyche optimistically keeping his mobile close at hand on the nightstand, assuming the other go-to dinosaurs, Allardyce, Pulic & Warnock have probably run their races now. I think Danny Rohl would be a decent shout if they’re looking for something a little more progressive, but any decent manager must realise a top two finish in one of Europe’s weakest leagues is nothing more than a bit of meaningless fluff on the cv, however much Brendan Rogers talks it up. |
Dyche has also said he's not interested. Which is making it sound like a very unattractive gig - tho he is said to be in the frame if Postecoglu doesn't last at Forest.

Ipswich's own Ben Pugh managed the Cayman Islands' national team. Or there's Kevin Cuthbert who was caretaker manager at Raith Rovers. I reckon each of those are about Rangers' level. Maybe they've got the whole Trumpton roll call on the shortlist? tbf, they'd be lucky to get Grub...

He doesn't strike me as someone who relishes sectarianism. And it's a poisoned chalice at the moment. Lots of potential to damage his reputation, with minimal upside. This season has already gone for Rangers, so how does a new manager motivate the players to turn around performances? "Come on lads, we won't finish above Livingston unless we all pull together!"

Erin Cuthbert, who plays for Chelsea in the WSL is Scottish. Don't know if she's a blue or green though.

To answer your (flippant) rhetorical question, I guess the first thing to do is win the League Cup semi against Celtic next month, and then win the Scottish Cup in May. In my experience, they take those cups very seriously up there, and Celtic like to deal in 'trebles'. You're of course right that Kieran McKenna certainly doesn't relish sectarianism and he has managed to steer well away from any conversation about which 'side' he might be on. In 1989, when he was three, his family moved to Fermanagh (predominantly Catholic) from London to start their hotel business. That was just two years after the IRA bomb in nearby Enniskillen had killed 11 people at the war memorial. (One more victim died years later after never coming out of a coma.) He would have grown up with that very fresh in the memories of all around him.

Exactly. It’s a hiding to nothing, look how quick the fans turned on Martin, they’re ripe to all out riot anytime soon. Plus, it’s a backward step, that does nothing to increase his chances of getting a top PL job.
