....from Villa Park for the match against Maccabi Tel Aviv, due to "public safety concerns and the ability to deal with protests".

Making it illegal would be excessive but I do agree with your second point.

Does surprise me how many people still believe in something that is as real as the tooth fairy and Father Christmas.

Many times, including an away game in Poland against Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv. I'm not aware of any other issues in their games

As I said, there is certainly a debate to be had regarding whether Israels hould be allowed to play in international tournaments. But do you also belive that Palestine should be banned from international football after the elected Palestinian government in Gaza launched the 7th October attacks that saw 1200 people killed in a single day alongside mass rape, torture, decapitation and kidnapping?

I'm not sure they can put a team together!

The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) said 421 football players were among the 808 athletes killed in Gaza over the past 22 months, nearly half of them children.

Unfortunately and possibly very dangerous is that there is a wider issue involved and that is that an Ayoub Khan a Pakistani Member of Parliament objected to these fans going to Villa Park.
I think this Country is in danger of being ruled by everyone except those supposed to be ruling Britain,
Starmer as our supposed leader could instruct the Birmingham police to let the match go ahead with the away supporters present.
For those that say he would be overriding a warning that there would be trouble that the police couldn't control you only have to read between the lines of the situation regarding the two spying allegedly on behalf of China to see he can and does overrule things that suits him and the bunch of useless cronies he is in charge of. Although to say he is in charge is a fallacy.

No, Starmer absolutely can't and shouldn't instruct the police to do anything - the police are rightly independent of politicians and that separation is absolutely right in a democracy.

The policing decision is highly questionable but the route for that is for their boss (The PCC) to step in, not the PM.

And that is exactly what has happened thankfully.

Beat Starmer up for his policies - but to beat up for not over stepping his powers is pretty silly tbh.

In fairness this was banned because of potential violence, not for protests, we’ve literally had weekly anti-Israel protests in this country. The judge in Amsterdam who jailed 5 of the attackers of Maccabi fans even said they were antisemitic attacks based on the WhatsApp exchanges.

But UEFA have put everyone in an awkward position. If it were a Russian team I’m sure there would also be concerns around violence. I wouldn’t expect any country accused of war crimes and breaches of human rights to be allowed to participate in European competition.

Russians aren't treated as pariahs in the UK currently, in fact most people when dealing with a Russian would assume they are anti-Putin and his attack on Ukraine if they are in the UK, that doesn't extend to Jewish people who seemingly have to take full responsibility for Netanyahu's actions whether they agree or disagree with them

There is something in that. Though I think most in the UK would at least be cautious and suspicious of a Russian in the uk unless they were actively making it clear they opposed Putin.

Furthermore, we are getting within this very thread, criticism of Israel, met with cries of anti semitism by people in the UK. Which is tacit defence of and support of Israel.

Oh dear, you've definitely slipped up this time.

Ayoub Khan is an elected member of the UK parliament so how does that sit with your previous numerous assertions of 'not being a racist' and the statement below that 'this country is in danger of being ruled by everyone except those supposed to be ruling Britain'?

Hasn't the UN found that Israel's actions in Gaza amounted to genocide? Not sure you can say that's just a "label" when an inquiry that has looked at available evidence has concluded that there is evidence of Israel committing genocide.

The government in Gaza effectively staged a coup and Hamas is an appalling regime which cannot be excused any of the horrendous things they have done. They are hardly democratically elected representatives of the Gaza people. Palestine also includes the West Bank. It has a fairly reasonable administration but is being increasingly occupied by Israel. How are the things done by the government supported settlers, together with IDF, not genocidal? The mantra “from the river to the sea” says it all.

The imperial ambitions of Israel are not that different to Russia. The actions of both militaries are also similar.

In conclusion, we have a democracy carrying out collective punishment, around 55 dead Palestinians for each Israeli person killed on Oct 7th. Such “punishments” conducted by the Nazis in occupied Europe is rightly considered one of their worst war crimes.

I think you misunderstand what i mean, I'm not debating if these things are true or not. It's just so important to get that label. It's then used in every sentence. Genocidal Israel. Fascist Farage etc. Like a tactic or strategy to win the argument before the argument has begun. I wonder if its a deliberate tactic or just subconscious to the way people think.
