We loaned him out to get games to build up his fitness ( which makes the Jan return make sense) .... if its for the season, id say its a mistake, because there's absolutely no guarantee that Burns will return to the player he was pre ACL injury.... |  |

Such a baffling move. I thought he looked bright in his cameos at the start of the season. So to not have a recall is bizarre. Surely a fit and firing Ogbene would be someone we'd want for the run in! |  | | |

Might be one of, if not the worst piece of business we've ever done. Dropping £12m on a player who isnt as good as someone we already had and sent out on loan.. baffling. Isnt like Ogbene is a bad egg either.

Nah. Otherwise we'd have added a recall once he proved he wouldn't.
Imo it's a financial reason. Saves a % on wages whilst KM was requesting we bringing in mcateer whilst ashton wanted egeli. | |

Yeah, I'm not really sure it's a massive surprise that Ogbene is better offensively than a load of Championship full backs given that he's primarily a winger. |  |

We don't need a 6th option for RW.
Don't think Ogbene is any better or any worse than some on that list.
But squad needed trimming after the window.

Who do we have that is better, or rather more effective? Egeli looks raw and needs guiding/managing through this season. Plus he is a different type of RW, more in the Omari mould.
Our success has come largely with a direct, powerful, pacy RW. Ogbene is the closest we have to Burns. McAteer looks utter turd. Unbelievable we sent Ogbene out and bought him in at a cost of £12m! [Post edited 24 Oct 2025 15:51]

....the only thing the Bristol City fans were right about when it comes to Ashton.
They basically said that he gets over excited then given ay cash and that he wasn't to be trusted.

This may or may not provide solace: he's a 5 or 6 out of 10 for Blades fans on their forum. I'm uncomfortably aware of the money we spent to up/down-grade him, and what out of 10 his replacements may be on our forum currently, but Ogbene hasn't dazzled in the eye test so far.
