Leeds and Burnley are us last season 15:41 - Nov 23 with 2293 viewsbournemouthblue

it's like groundhog day

Both teams got 100 points and look like they are sailing towards innevitabity

Edit: As I was typing this, they scored albeit ruled out through VAR

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

After 12 games last season we had 9 from 12 games.

Leeds 11 from 12 (if it stays 1-2)
Burnley 10 from 12
Sunderland 19 from 12

Almost identical, despite the sky sports love in for the class of 2025 promoted sides. Sunderland are doing incredible granted, but it also wouldn't shock me if they went 10 without a win.

The difference is that Leeds and Burnley got a couple of wins in the early games, before teams had worked them out, and we couldn't turns draws into wins in our equivalent games.

Leeds and Burnley show lots of endeavour, but increasingly coming out on the wrong side of margins. A familiar story to us at this point last season.

Sunderland have got 7 (seven) players at AFCON apparently so that will be a real test. If they come out of that the right side of 25-30 points then surely they will be fine.

Edit: I also think that Wolves are already so far behind them that it's incredibly unlikely all three promoted teams will go down. Wolves would have to overtake all three which is a really tall order at this point.

But they're all so much better than us, bought better, managed better etc etc etc.

These hard facts might upset a few on here.

Although this weekend has seen two of those fairly clear offsides ruled as onside thanks to the defenders' shirt sleeves.

Sunderland will be fine I think but imagine the gulf in class between Wolves, Burnley, Leeds and the rest will start to show and the points gap will gradually open up.

You need to get most of yours points in the first half of the season, that's always really been the case, even when it was a bit easier to stay there because sides start to work you out for the return fixtures

I thought the wisdom from some on here was that Leeds were doing fantastically and are exactly how we should've done it?

You spelt Sunderland wrong there

Leeds I would say have the most talented squad and play the most sophisticated football but seem to be suffering all the problems that we did

They still may fare better than us as the season develops but echoes very similarly to how we went

Happily see Leeds come straight back down their fans are still saying we were lucky to get promoted and are pretty annoying in general. Perhaps they can stop saying how they are a premiership team and might shit up for a while but I doubt it.

It has generally felt like that. I would be interested to see an analysis of how the points gained by promoted teams compared first half of the season to the second. I would also like to see how that compares across divisions because it hasn't felt the same in the Championship, for example.

I would not be unhappy with this at all. Have no liking for Sunderland having lived in Newcastle and similarly can't stand Leeds having lived here and had to put up with their fan base - plus that would annoy Don Goodman.
Ideal scenario woudl be for Burnley to stay up at the expense of Wolves

I said very similar to this a few weeks ago, when some were saying how terrible we had been, with all 3 newly promoted teams having done ‘so much better than us’ (sic). I have Leeds & Burnley to really struggle, and come straight back down, but Sunderland’s incredible start has done enough for them to survive, although they will sink down the table as the season progresses. I suspect it will be more than a buffer of 2-3pts though. Even 0.67ppg from now until the end of the season would put them on 35pts.

Wolves have completely imploded, and I don’t see them breaking 30 points.

Not really, all there preseason threads were about Sunderlands excellent looking recruitment, which sent posts like Herb into a meltdown and giving heads wobbles.

I'm not talking about preseason. I'm talking about the starts both Leeds and Sunderland had, and people saying we should've been like them. I felt people were diving in a little too soon, and so it has proved with Leeds.

Up to 7th now. How much gave they spent, anyone know?
