Philogene is a brilliant player… 21:42 - Dec 10 with 2081 viewsunstableblue

… that was an incredible performance it had everything

Hats off to him.

There were actually some good performances and moments across the pitch tonight.

Think many will focus on us not grabbing the game.

But it was an essential against what I thought was a strong opponent.

But Kipre and OShea were imperious… didn’t look like we’d concede.

Very impressive. Particularly given that he looked knackered from 65 minutes onwards.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

He's great - if he can build some consistency he's going to be even better. At the moment he either feels like he's a 5 or a 9 with no inbetween.

Looked after the ball so well in the final 20
Mins and some important interceptions. Just topped it off.

Genuinely can't believe he went the distance. Looked knackered about 60. And then still sprinting passed men at 90. He looks lethargic but he was grafting!

Nailed on Clarke starts there against Leicester though. That's two big big shifts.

Yep, pretty much how I saw it too.

Stoke we’re a decent team and we hardly gave them a sniff.

Kippers and O’Shea were superb, Nunez had another good game (surely he’s a nailed on starter now), and Jayden. Wow - what a player.

Yes, I was thinking this. They both looked excellent and are really starting to gel.

Different gravy.. In addition to his runs and his goal The work rate tackling back regaining possession. He and Davis had that side locked down.

His best game for a while.

Oddly the commentator didn’t see it, said how quiet he’d been!

I do wish he’d be more aggressive with his first touch though, take it across the full back, Leif Davis style. But guess that isn’t his style.

RIP Sir Bobby

His workrate is improving by the game. He gets back to help the defence more and still continues to pose a huge threat going forward to the opposition.

I love philly yet he frustrates me so much at times too.

Some times davis makes the perfect run and is ignored when its the simplest and more favourable move.

It will be interesting how he develops.

Weird take after his best game for ages.

I thought he was excellent tonight

He uses Davis by not passing to him. Davis creates the space … philogene cuts inside.

Worked really well tonight

Appreciate how it works. But occasionally that inside option isn't the best and Davis was. Just a mere frustration but something I think he will get better at as he gets older. Doesn't stop me loving him

That’s a rubbish statement, the ld more often than not makes the right decision.

Its ok to have little frustrations with players. You dont need to agree its a personal view.

Exactly, my point about having a more aggressive first touch is valid, doesn’t mean I don’t think he’s a quality player.

If ever there was a player to illustrate the need for patience to let them settle and find their place, it is Philogene.

He looked less than a shadow of the player we saw at Hull when he joined us - that Villa move was obviously a disaster for him. He had no confidence, looked weak in possession, offered almost nothing for us.

Now he's unplayable when on his game, looks to make things happen every time he gets the ball, is capable of scoring regular worldies, seems to have gained a yard or two in pace, and his work rate off the ball is incredible. That ability to nick the ball back and get us on the counter is really noticeable.

6 months ago I suspect a lot of people though he was a waste of money, whereas now he's probably (alongside Walle Egeli) our most valuable asset in terms of saleability.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Agreed ,

Greet work rate last night, always looked threatening running forward too

He won the ball many times too and that’s not mentioning the beauty of a goal

Our goal was a perfect example of JP using Leif as a foil.

Which we all know. That doesn't mean however over 90 minutes there doesn't become opportunities where Davis would be the better option and soemtimes its incredibly obvious but is ignored. Its getting that balance right for me that will take jayden to the next level.

That part of his game seems to be getting better and better.

Same happened with Hutchinson. This is what McKenna does best. Get a good player and really work on adding an extra level.

Having a one man goal of the season competition!

One thing that really impressed me (and surprised) was how many times he won the ball on sat against cov. He’s not the biggest or strongest but got his timing right and relieved pressure up the pitch.

Undoubtedly he’ll be back in the PL next season one way or another - class above.
