Lose and Southampton win and I'll start to prepare for the play offs at best. Time for clicking/gelling is up, think today is huge in terms of squad confidence.

I didn't have you down as a toys out of the pram type. This game's a tough one to call but hardly a season defining one.

I'm not sure any toys have been flung Dolly, just think another win would give us real momentum at the perfect time and I have been more than aware of Southampton's change of confidence, pretty sure they'll win again today as much as I'd love a draw.

We’ll make the play-offs. If we win today I’ll believe in campaign autos on 09:49 - Dec 13 with 826 viewsunstableblue

But I think it could be quite competitive with Saints and Boro

Fair to say that I paused before the at best bit but didn't want to come across all presumptuous and entitled. In reality I would be confident of a play off place.

I'd rather a Nodge win today, if I'm honest.

The trouble being that due to having a few disappointing results each ‘hard’ game heaps more pressure onto the team.

Whereas it’s not season defining it certainly will make automatic promotion a lot harder.

I don't think it's quite that pivotal, although this upcoming run of games looks pretty important when taken together. I'd take a draw at Leicester, they are up & down but know us very well and if their better players raise it we are in for a really difficult, high level game. Things would look exceptionally good with a win though and allow more leeway for a disappointment at Millwall or Coventry.

Id take a draw there, they have quality players, but if we were to get the 3 I'd say we've turned a corner for sure,
Our fragility was causing problems we seem a bit tougher now,
I'm still sticking with us and saints,

The Must Win, How Soon is Now, Sprint/Marathon debate?! We need 2.15PPG by unstableblue 13 Dec 11:15
As per paste below we need 90 points for second place. Maybe less - albeit Boro could have had their wobble and Saints could go like a steam train.

We’ve played 20 games of 46
We’ve accrued 34 points of the 90 - 56 to go across 26 games

That’s 2.15 PPG, that’s high.

So picking up on Bankster’s thread and those suggesting there are no must wins in December.

I don’t quite agree… now a draw at Leicester is still positive, but we there’s no doubt we need a run, and today would put down a marker, start that momentum

BUT - Sheff Weds at home is a MUST WIN

You can’t keep kicking the can (the points total) down the road.

Over the last eight completed seasons (2017/18 to 2024/25), the points required to secure this position have averaged roughly 90 points.
The points for the second-placed teams over the last eight completed seasons are:
2024/25: Burnley – 100 points (Finished level with champions Leeds United but second on goal difference)
2023/24: Ipswich Town – 96 points
2022/23: Sheffield United – 91 points
2021/22: Bournemouth – 88 points
2020/21: Watford – 91 points
2019/20: West Bromwich Albion – 83 points
2018/19: Sheffield United – 89 points
2017/18: Cardiff City – 90 points

Not yet, but it sounds like you're going to extremes as some of the numpties on here do - either starting to believe or "play offs at best".

Nope, the team is at last transitioning there were some woeful games even you can't deny that,

Southampton will have some more wobbles between now and the end of the season as illustrated by Sheff Utd last night. The Eckert bounce won’t last long.

As long as we stay fairly close to the teams in the top two, add at least another striker in Jan then I’m confident that we can push on from there.

That’s reassuring. They’ve been on a very good run, but then4 of their last 6 games have been at home.

The point is, patience.
