| I can't wait for McAteer to score 19:16 - Dec 20 with 2003 views | TresBonne | I felt sorry for him today. He deserved one to go in. Played a great ball across for Azon's chance (what a save from their keeper btw) as well, unlucky not to get an assist for that. You'd think he was an opposition player the way people in the stands were hurling abuse at him. Not the first time this season either. | | | | |
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 19:26 - Dec 20 with 1726 views | Hugoagogo_Reborn | He really is so unlucky/frustrating. I'm willing him to get going, but lack of game time won't be helping, nor will the negative ninnies who need their match day pariah. He gets in some really great attacking positions, and does decent crossover play on the wing, but he just can't get that finish. | |

Don't get me wrong I'm not his biggest fan. But as you say, he has been unlucky on many occasions and it just won't seem to go in. That being said, wether I'm or anyone is a fan or not, why hurl abuse at an Ipswich Town player as an Ipswich Town fan ffs. Not going to make him play any better is it.

And I hope he puts it right up all the idiots and so called 'fans' giving him abuse and scapegoating him. [Post edited 20 Dec 19:30]

It’s things like that that people struggle to forgive when not much else is coming off. It’s not the first time either he smashed a pass so hard beyond the touch that’s needed. Hopefully his time will come [Post edited 21 Dec 9:13]

Yeah, that was sh*te. But he's not the only player to ever get a pass wrong. You would think he did it on purpose the way people scream and groan at him.
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 19:54 - Dec 20 with 1554 views | Zx1988 | It's a shame there's not a decent reserve league any more. No slight on him, but I wonder if he's got into his own head about his seeming inability to score. A short run of starts in a good-quality reserve league would probably be a good confidence booster for him. | |

He cost a lot. Not his fault- but its part of the equation. He is relatively quick, but not Burns quick. He cannot beat a man. Ever. He makes bad decisions, or messes up the pass of shot whenever in a key situation. At present, it is not unreasonable for supporters to take the view that he is well short of what we need. That could change, but its half a season now, and little sign of it.

'Half a season'. How many minutes has Kacey had?

Last year it took Jack Clarke a lot of time to get used to the system and contribute effectively. Kasey is a great team player, works his butt off every minute and when we need him, he will come up with the goods. All it takes is just one to go in.

I’m not sure there’s evidence he’s an upgrade on Wes. Not yet. I wish there was. Burns could be frustrating, however he could finish and had pace. Be interesting to see if he still offers what he used to after his injury.

bread and butter pass, difficult to fathom how a pro gets it so badly wrong. At least he came on and had impact, so that is encouraging.

He was terrible today when he came on, but too early to write him off yet. He looks drained on confidence, at least that is what I am hoping what it is, else we well and truly have had our pants down. But the guys around me calling him names every time he was on the ball was a bit much. Same idiots a couple of months ago were calling Kipre as Manu Thetis in disguise and a big man who had no footballing skills despite the fact that Kipre is a vastly better footballer than Thetis ever was.

He wasn't remotely terrible, that's a ridiculous thing to say! He was busy, made good runs, got in good positions, but clearly lacks confidence at the moment to make the most of it.
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 22:56 - Dec 20 with 954 views | CobboldCrusty | I thought he had a really positive cameo - things didn't come off for him but he was always in the right place to make it happen and showed he can be lively, time runs well, take on defenders he could still be an important player for us this season | | | |
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 23:01 - Dec 20 with 914 views | Vaughan8 | I'm not his biggest fan, nor did I see the game today. He's not been very good previously, there is not to argue with about that. Most peoples "good points" are he works hard, which should be a given. Anyway, what I can't understand is people abusing him from the stands. That is extremely odd. Say what you want after, but during the game is helping no-one. | | | |
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 23:08 - Dec 20 with 880 views | brazil1981 | Agree, really feeling it for him! Anyone who’s played footie regularly over a period of time will know there are periods where just nothing seems to come off! Confidence thing a guess mainly, trying too hard etc! I think there’s a decent player in there! He’s not a Philogene or Clarke that will do the spectacular, but hopefully will be a good long term replacement for Burns (who even if he gets back fit is still knocking on I’m afraid). | | | |
| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 23:08 - Dec 20 with 877 views | SomethingBlue | We have morons among us and sadly that is society now. He should have at least three good assists from his pretty limited playing time this season – not his fault his teammates haven't converted. | |

| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 23:16 - Dec 20 with 829 views | HighgateBlue | He has produced so little for us it is unfunny. This is not Monopoly, or a card game. This is professional football. The excuse of 'bad luck' is a really curious one. So far he has been a gigantic waste of money. The biggest this club has ever seen, actually. I will support him and all of our players and of course not give him any abuse at the ground or online. But we have a right to express our opinions on here, and so far he's been a really significant disappointment. Awful pass completion stats. Awful shots on target stats. The sooner Wes Burns is back the better. One thing is for sure, we ain't clawing back very much of the money we spent on him. Over a billion pence. Hopefully we'll see an uptick in his form. But I won't be holding my breath. It was a weird signing at the time, and it just looks weirder now we can see what he has and hasn't produced. You can feel sorry for the guy, and feel contempt for those who directly abuse him, and still conclude that this is a humungous waste of money. | | | |

| I can't wait for McAteer to score on 08:39 - Dec 21 with 391 views | tractorshark | I think the Preston chance was a real sliding doors moment for him. Score that, we get a draw and his Ipswich career is probably very different. The caveat to that is I’ve seen nothing since when he’s been in the final third to suggest that’s a one-off. His finishing and final ball have been very poor. He’s clearly short of confidence but I won’t fault his effort and he did produce an outstanding cross for Azon, who should have scored. I didn’t hear any boos from where I was sitting yesterday but if it happened, I can’t see how that helps his situation or the team’s. I’ve said before the fee is not his fault but it is a factor that cannot be ignored in the conversation. I’ve got two friends who are Leicester season ticket holders and they told me at the time we’ve paid way too much for an average player. But putting that aside, the thing that baffles me most is why anyone thought he was better than Ogbene. I get the argument about giving him time and I think that’s valid. But comparing his situation to Philogene and Clarke last season is a little skewed as both of those were struggling in the Prem not the Championship. | | | |
