| How are we feeling about today? Lampard wants a win - they’re near full streng 10:35 - Dec 29 with 1896 views | unstableblue | Coventry were a few players down at Portman Road, and started like a team with great confidence pinging short passes around in a manner Town lack. They also carved some chances. And whilst many will say the game could have gone both ways. Lampard set up all wrong, and they were a team that allowed out attacking quality space - they pushed their defensive line way too high (the opposite of all our recent opponents) and we just ruthlessly punished them. Could have been more than 3. Lampard will want to put down a marker with a statement win, following the PR result and playing the best parachute ahead of seemingly inevitable rise to the Premier League. But am sure he’ll have learnt some lessons and will surely not be so gung-ho. Town are spluttering and lack belief and fan backing on the terraces. BUT if we fire up and play to our potential we can win. Think it’ll be a good game. And Coventry will still come at us. 0-2 Town, Egeli. COYFB. How do you think it will pan out? Potentially the toughest game of the season? That said, they've had a minor wobble, so you never know in football! Safe travels to all heading to Cov this afternoon. | |

Or that inevitable drop in form that will come Certainly the speculation around Haji Wright (who’s not always starting) to West Ham will be unsettling. But Coventry have confidence, we don’t. And that frankly could be the deciding factor.

I’d go with that, like Leeds did to us last time around - it’s odd that the Sheffield Wednesday win came around and now this so close to each other. We could do with being in a much better position going into Oxford at home when others have stiffer tests.

I'd love to see Burns at some point. Although loyalty is a rare commodity these days, heart should be a given. Walton, O'Shea, Davis and Burns have it in spades. Morsy and Chappers had it. Unfortunately, big transfer fees don't always come with heart. That should come with time. The effort isn't in doubt, but you can't buy heart. Maybe it starts today, with the start of our season. Play like we did in the first half against Sheff Weds, we get battered. You just never know which Town side will turn up!

We're all hoping for a Town win, but form tells us that's unlikely. However, form is an average over several matches. This is just one. We'll win.

Have a good feeling about this one. At least a point!

A draw or win today and good performance plus 3 points at home to Oxford, and the mood round the club and fan base would be lifted.. them Pompey is winnable on the road. 7 points ahead of the FA Cup break would be superb. But just not feeling likely given fan mood and attacking player form. Anyway each game at a time, starting today.

| How are we feeling about today? Lampard wants a win - they’re near full streng on 11:26 - Dec 29 with 1153 views | Smoresy | If my guess was needed to save the world then it would be for a Cov win unstable, honestly, because they're a dominant home force in the country at present, while we've been a middling away team. I'd feel compelled to go with the odds; we have but one world after all! I don't think this is a "defining" game if we lose it though, not at all. We'll remain best placed of the monied clubs and optimism may turn to the January window, PLUS three VERY winnable fixtures to kick off the new year. If we win it, however, I think it really does have the potential to be so for us. Not to heal any separation between crowd and players, nein too fickle, we've had those momentous wins already and they were promptly archived. But to germinate much needed life into our away performances, where we seem to have lost confidence, personality, urgency, belief. The biggest away scalp on offer in the Championship could act as a welcome reset. | | | |

They're still up there when others have fallen or a push has failed to materialise. Remember when Stoke and West Brom were battling for top spot. Promotion is there for the taking but we need to kick on

The table doesn’t lie. They have confidence and great support. We have neither. But if football was that predicable, they’d be no point in playing it, so you never know.
