| taking a backpack into PR 07:12 - Jan 9 with 4055 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I've got really fed up with the mahoosive queues at half time to get a cuppa (SAR Upper) which make it impossible to get anything without missing several minutes of the match. I want to take in a flask of tea in a backpack. But the security seems to have been raised and I'm not sure they will allow a backpack and flask. Anyone know if this is allowed? | |

Doubtless a flask could be construed as a dangerous weapon, rucksack or not. Yeah, I know… sigh.
| taking a backpack into PR on 07:37 - Jan 9 with 2763 views | Swansea_Blue | You’d think someone on here has tried to take a flask in before and would know. We did have a backpack thread in the last year, but I think that was more about left luggage and not taking in drinks. If not, maybe give the club a call? It’d be nuts to ban them, but also expected. When my dad first started taking me in the 70s, he always had a hip flask of scotch. How times have changed. | |

Still times have changed you are supposed to spend a small fortune on the clubs efforts of refreshments. [Post edited 9 Jan 7:40]

Same here bud, plus a milk crate for Churchman’s (front of stand aligned with them - posture, posture)!!

Mind you he used to smoke in there as well so times have changed. Most of that generation are in the North lower moaning at Hirst now innit. [Post edited 9 Jan 8:26]

Yeah i've thought about taking in the flask in my hand, but I'm sure it would be confiscated. Same if it was in a plastic carrier bag. All I want is a hot drink at half time on a cold day, without missing 5+ minutes of the match. But the club cannot deliver that. If you wait until the half time whistle goes, the queues are ridiculous, and the speed of service appalling. They'd need to more than double the speed of service to get everyone served without missing any of the game. But the security staff don't care about that, they have their job. If Mark Ashton wants to improve the fan experience, he should either massively improve speed of service, or put some rules in place that allow people to bring in a flask. Oh, and a blanket.

Ashton could sell an overpriced Ipswich Town flask in the club shop and only allow such flasks into the ground. Used to take a flask of mulled wine to matches around Christmas.

Have to admit I find it ironic the club giving the members for this season a travel mug ... Pretty sure I can't take that into the ground.

I thought about that too, but it would be cold by the time I got there after my 8:30 am start for a 3 pm ko.

Yep. We always used to trudge to PR carrying a milk crate. Churchman’s was the place to be lol

I don't take one anymore though since Benters shamed me for even having such a thing. Never had a flask though. Had a bottle of wine once, but I wouldn't recommend that!

| taking a backpack into PR on 08:58 - Jan 9 with 2128 views | dirtyboy | My wife nearly kicked off with a security guy a few weeks back when he wasn't going to let her bring in her small backpack (Fjallraven thing) the fact she'd bought £30 of brownies/cakes from H+H for our dessert when we got home did influence her decision to get irate with the poor lad... His inference was that it was "larger than A4" so she folded over the top and pointed at someone with the news bags with goodies being obviously larger and he seemed to reluctantly let us pass lol! I guess some jobsworth may be awkward, but just take the smallest bag you can get away with. | | | |

My rucksack's definitely bigger than A4. Maybe he was just after your cakes.

cheers dirtyboy, that's good to know - I will try a small A4 size backpack and see if that works.

I wonder if the key is to look elderly rather than in your 40s with shaved head, face tattoos and wearing propa clobba
| taking a backpack into PR on 09:50 - Jan 9 with 1843 views | DJR | Twice recently, I've taken in my drawstring bag the IFTC travel mug that members recently got, having filled it up at a coffee shop when I started my train journey to the game. It was empty because I had long since drunk its contents and I took it out of the bag to show the security guard. I was waived through on both occasions. Were you to do the same (assuming you have one or could buy one), I suppose you could fill it up with tea or coffee in the ground before kick-off and drink it at half-time. It does appear to be insulated although its contents might not be boiling hot by half-time. [Post edited 9 Jan 9:57]
