Looks to me like McKenna might be a bit prickled by the criticism 11:31 - Feb 6 with 3031 viewsVic

Feels to me like he's been unusually frank in this presser - first his comments about Szmodics and now defending the interest in Azeez.

I also wondered if there was a little bit more to his comments about recruitment and how it's changed since he's been here.

Maybe I'm looking for stuff that isn't there, but it doesn't feel like the usual McKenna to me.

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

Effectively admitted he’s just a head coach??

He’s off in the summer if he gets a good offer somewhere else.

Sounded as if he said ‘in terms of bids, no’ as in can’t shed any light on that particular part of the question.

Don’t know why but he felt and sounded a bit ‘down’ today, maybe it was the early start and the weather [bounce]

Is that any different to what he's always said regarding recruitment? He has an input but not his main responsibility.

He doesn’t usually talk about players contracted to other clubs.

Surprised to hear him speak about Azeez.

Might just be because Millwall confirmed bids were made?

Assume it's only because Neil confirmed the bids at Millwalls end

I think he is a bit sick of the atmosphere tbh. Portman Road has been silent other than sighs and groans for the most part this season.

I think he came across a little bit deflated but maybe that is the product of that.

Can't keep blaming everything on that! If/When he goes to a bigger team he'll get it even more if he's not winning.

He'll have a nice break as we aren't home until 28th Feb.

Not sure if it's relevant to today but he's definitely seemed a bit underwhelmed, to say the least, about the home crowd this season. There've been quite a few pointed comments from him towards the lack of support or general noise, even when that wasn't the topic of discussion.

Can't say I blame him either to be honest, probably feels like he's given so much and people can't wait to start moaning and whinging at Portman Road. Maybe deep down he feels that whatever happens this season then the summer is the right time to move on.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Felt like a rally call, and I loved it.

Often keeps his cards close to his chest, but opening up a little gives fans a greater perception of the club.

Its a thread about McKenna being frustrated and you've said "I think he is a bit sick of the atmosphere tbh"

So unless you're talking about something completely different, in which case why are you posting on this thread, you're "blaming" his frustration on the lack of atmosphere?

People have been giving me a bit of grief over me saying hes given players not always those he wanted.

Its such a common act in football. Don't know why everyone felt it would be different here just because ashton said so in an interview.

I imagine that's what will happen and I would not blame him – a section of our fans inexplicably decided not to like this team from the get go and would probably prefer to be proved right than to have to back down.

Play decent football and he will get the fans onside. Keep playing this slow, monotonous predictable football, then the crowd have nothing to get excited about. It’s so damned obvious how we are going to play. It’s boring !

Yeah, but but, what about Woolfie?! Burgess?! Broadhead?!

Why oh why did we ever let them go for this boll0ckl3ss group of players?!?!?!

Something like that anyway.

I think it's very difficult to go to a home game and be upbeat given that this season we haven't pushed on. Last season was finished pretty early on and it was clear that we hadn't a team to compete at the highest level. Very understandable given that we had risen two Leagues in two seasons.
Personally I don't see us ready now or even if we get promoted as there are too many positions where we are not strong enough. I see where we were coming from with the Millwall winger as you have Burns who we cannot assume will stay 100% fit or even make another season with Town. Despite what KM says McAteer isn't good enough and Egeli is not a winger. The number 9 and 10 positions are by no means sorted and Neil whilst a welcome addition to the midfield is like the situation with Bamford in that he was in a Premier League club, but deemed not good enough,
You then maybe don't have adequate cover for both fullbacks and don't have a top class keeper at the club.
So whilst our owners may require another stint in the Premier League do we want another season of knowing that we will be turned over by a majority of the teams in that League ?

It's expectation( though in life you probably shouldn't do) the league one championship seasons us the supporters were on a Huge crest of a wave enjoying, hopeful, emotional,
Relating to a team with heart and fight,
Now it's a ripple not a wave,
I can't say what it is but something missing,
I think technically the players today are better than the last class are they a better team? Maybe that's were it lies,
And McKenna seemed a bit off but that could be anything, wanted a player he didn't get the Sammi business or had just heard a player had an injury problem and thrown his selection out he's only human,

I liked McKenna today, back to the old him, a bit more time explaining things and 'educating', like the playing out from the back questions that we had way back when.

If I have any criticism of the current team, it's just the sense of urgency is lacking at times and that starts from the back.

The crowd are engaged with intensity and attacking intent. McKenna himself acknowledged this a while back.

We're missing a little bit of spark that's all.

why does everyone try and psychoanalyse every little word he says to draw some sleight or inference about what ever topic is rattling the bee in their bonnet about.
