I would like to add that, despite the horrendous condition of this stretch of tarmac, the most disgraceful thing along this road is the house on the left that sees fit to fly a simply repulsive West Ham flag.

Well just east of that in Earls Colne we have to exit by way of America Road/Chalkney Hill and that surface in the picture would constitute a better drive than most of our route out

Why can’t the US authorise tactical strikes on targets like that? Sometimes you have to wonder if their priorities are right.
We’ve got a few stretches nearby that are pretty much the same as in the opening parts of that clip. The work vans get around pretty quick, but new ones appear as quickly as they fix them. The incessant rain seems to make it worse. I wonder if patching is a false economy and they’re be better in the long run to resurface.
I drive quite a lot through Suffolk and Norfolk, and it's like this everywhere currently - for me the worst stretch at the moment is between Scole and Beccles on the Bungay road, as that is a 60mph most of the way and is just covered in pot holes

This is 5 minutes walk from me, the road has been collapsing into the river for a couple of years now https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/25
A road that definitely felt like it was collapsing when I went along there was the one between Tiptree and Smythe's Green, near Layer Marney. Might as well have been a rollercoaster.
The A1017 near Haverhill at Sturmer and/or Baythorne End is apparently dreadfully bad, though I haven't been that way for a while.

I can confirm that Sturmer and Baythorne End is truly awful. Driving along there reminds me of those computer games you played as a kid where you had to avoid all the obstacles that suddenly appear to get to the other side.

Definitely Sturmer. Worst place for me by a mile. I notice someone has stuck a sign over the village sign which reads ‘Pothole City’.

I can’t post the link, but if you google govt pot hole ratings bbc, there is an article from January this year that shows the best & worst counties for pothole. Essex is green! Suffolk red. Cambs amber.

The ratings for that survey were a bit misleading. There were three categories measured. Suffolk got amber for the state or the roads and one other category that I don't remember , but got marked red on the finance side - mainly because they had brought forward part of the budget a year early.

Not near me, but until it was resurfaced last year, Bishop's Hill was diabolical. I mean now, it's lovely, although they basically need to do the entire road from St Clement's to St Augustines. When I was last that way, as soon as you got past the Cavendish Street junction at one end, and the Alan Road one at the other, it was back to a pitted surface. The state of it especially between Levington and Hatfield Roads past the shops is horrific.
Plus you've got those roads that are still concrete - most of Broke Hall is like that, as well as bits of Chantry like Lavender Hill, Radcliffe Drive etc, and they're really starting to show their age.
As an aside, are there still roads that are barely got any tarmac on them at all? I always remember Pearl Road which led to the Bramford Lane recreation ground was in that category, not to mention Vermont Crescent off Tuddenham Road.

Ayr Road is in an absolutely diabolical state considering its probably no more than 60 yards long. It does get a fair amount of use as it has long been a bus route, in and out of Rushmere Estate so sees a great big double decker trying to navigate it every 10 mins or so. Roads like Renfrew and Moffat around it are not much better.
The last time I drove down it, Hawthorn Drive was basically a mile long cattle grid.
Murray Rd has long been a road to avoid due to hazardous craters randomly appearing and a popular spot for learners doing 3 point turns. I don't know if that has improved at all but doubt it.
