| Two steps forward… on 19:06 - Mar 7 with 1500 views | Swansea_Blue | I had exactly the same words going round in my head. We’re close but not quite there, still. I felt a bit like we’d shot ourselves in the foot before the game even started with KM talking up Leicester. He’s class and gracious in how he talks about teams, but I wonder if subconsciously the players buy into that talk too much. I don’t want us to respect teams and think they’ve got better players. I want us to go out there and kick them up the arse and make their lives hell. I want us to be relentless and batter them into submission. | |

| Two steps forward… on 19:09 - Mar 7 with 1486 views | Churchman | Since 1 Jan 11 games, 7 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses. 23 points, more than 2 points per game. That form over the season = more than 90 points. Not exactly disastrous. The start of the season is what has held us back. Is today a disappointing result? For a promotion chasing team yes. But that’s sport. We have no divine right to win every game. And if you can’t win, don’t lose, as M McCarthy would say. | | | |
| Two steps forward… on 19:11 - Mar 7 with 1467 views | Illinoisblue | If we can “one step back” our way to getting 10 pts out of 12 the rest of the season I suspect you won’t be complaining in May. | |

Was going to post something similar. Games like today are frustrating, but our overall return since the start of September has been pretty consistent really, picking up points at a similar rate over pretty much whatever selection of dates you look at. First 4 games aside, which as you say have lefty us playing catch up all season, we've not gone more than 2 games without a win, and that scenario has only happened a few times too.

| Two steps forward… on 19:33 - Mar 7 with 1352 views | MrPotatoHead | We aren’t going to win every game. And neither will other teams. 10 points from the last 4 games is excellent. Same again on the next 4. | | | |
| Two steps forward… on 19:36 - Mar 7 with 1328 views | Nutkins_Return | Do we just say that after any game we don't win. Every team I. Every league ever drops points. It's a game of dropping the least points not dropping none. There are two teams in every game. Also when we have done more than enough to win a game of football that's not a step back that's just football and why we love it it ultimately. We are in great form again now to be honest. We're not perfect but we are now right in the hunt. Game in hand in 3rd and finally level on games with 2nd. Two points in it and we play them at home. We are right in the mix and we now just need to back ourselves and back the team. Simple as that. We get two cracks at it if needed. Shootout run for autos and playoffs if not | |

| Two steps forward… on 20:22 - Mar 7 with 1213 views | WestSussexBlue | We’ve had One defeat (league) in Seven games, that’s about as consistent as we can realistically expect. If not, we’re expecting perfection which is completely unrealistic. Because we didn’t win, doesn’t mean to say we aren’t doing well. | | | |

So because of our terrible start we need even better?

You have to win more games than other teams if you’re below them!

Think we really needed near maximum points for the rest of March post Wrexham, for sure 6 needed instead of 4 now for the rest of this week. [Post edited 7 Mar 21:16]

But what he says in public might well not be what he says in private to the players. In public, gracious about the opposition but maybe less than generous in the dressing room.

| Two steps forward… on 22:12 - Mar 7 with 938 views | itfcsuth | We aren’t the finished article, particularly from a wider squad perspective, the 11 feels close, but we still aren’t there as a collective. But I don’t think today was step back in performance level, where that has been the case previously in the season, it didn’t feel that way. Disappointing to drop points of course, but the performance was largely positive. [Post edited 7 Mar 22:12]

| Two steps forward… on 22:20 - Mar 7 with 913 views | SomethingBlue | Since we lost 3-1 at Leicester – deservedly – in Dec it's W9 D3 L2. That's 2.14 points a game (extrapolated over a season it's 99 points). It's very consistent and shows we are in a very good place, I think we need to keep our heads when results don't quite go our way, we're going to be ok. | |

True, we might need a little more though, the start of the season still happened. Meet Millwall and Boro at home and I think we do it still.

If we replicate this form for the next 11 games, we get to 87 points.... that would be enough for automatic promotion once out of the past 10 seasons in believe.

1. That is meaningless when the team you are chasing is doing better than that. 2. We were playing a side in the bottom 3
| Two steps forward… on 08:48 - Mar 8 with 490 views | Blue_Heath | Yep, we've had now a number of opportunities to get into top two and only one one occasion from memory this season did we take one. I fear we've left ourselves too much to do and the ratio of away games will screw us now especially after dropping home points yesterday. Millwall the dark horse, can they last the distance? Boro have shown they can put long streaks together, we are really gonna have to pull some results out of the bag now e.g. Stoke, Saints and Scum away. [Post edited 8 Mar 8:49]

But that form is not over the season and we have a large number of tricky away games left and still haven't found a way to win after going behind.

It might do. But it's not really taking a step back. We had a poor start to the season. 2.14 ppt is outstanding form and you can't ask for more at this stage at the minute because you then just start to be unrealistic! would love it if we can do it. I think 2.14 ppt gets usual though. Just.

Spot on. I’d add that second half yesterday we were brilliant. If you didn’t enjoy that football isn’t for you.

It's good but it's not enough. We still have a soft underbelly - especially away - and we still don't have enough about us to win when going behind. Unless we get that sorted we won't be going up this year. Yesterday was another example. Leicester offered little to nothing, particularly in the second half, yet we couldn't take advantage of it. Yes, we should have had penalty, but we should have also done more before then.
