| Strait of Hormuz 20:14 - Mar 14 with 8400 views | Kropotkin123 | You can make this up... Donald Trump, 8-Mar "That’s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need them [ships] any longer — But we will remember. We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!"" Donald Trump, 14-Mar "Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint will send ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a nation that has been totally decapitated." In summary, he needs our ships to protect a shipping lane against an enemy that has allegedly been defeated, a week after saying he doesn't need them. [Post edited 14 Mar 20:15]

Worryingly Miliband is telling the BBC this morning that we are "looking at the options". We can't set that precedent, or signal to Iranian terrorists that we are part of this.

I hope we tell him to ‘go screw himself’ as they’d say. Trouble is, all countries are now going to start feeling the impacts of this idiot’s actions (while the people of Iran are still no safer).

https://www.theguardian.com/wo “I genuinely believe now they [the US and Israel] didn’t have a plan. I was still hoping I was wrong, but the Shahran attack changed the way I look at this war right now,” he said. “If the regime is what you want to hit, even if you think these depots were used by the regime, where do you draw the line? It's funny he's been reluctant to give American aid to Ukraine as it's not their way, but now wants Europe involved in something it didn't start or even request.

There was never a scenario where the US and Israel didn't just bomb Iran to rubble, and i dont understand why anyone thought that there might be.

Israel's out to destroy the country whatever regime might run it; they won't allow it or its people to prosper. Trump's already forgotten why he went in there.

Surely he wrote something with his crayons? I see he is now threatening NATO countries if they don’t help free up the Strait of Hormuz. Three things from this: The U.K. doesn’t have so much as a dingy to look after shipping. What little is left is rusting away kit less and crew less or already in the scrapyard. Even the little minesweeper is in the U.K. refitting. Pathetic really Secondly, it’s clear Trump is panicking that he’s unleashed something beyond his control. In particular the economic effects on the US Lastly saying that NATO is dead if those countries don’t help - it’s already dead Donald!! You already killed it! Along with the UN, International law and every other structure put in place since 1945. In the bin. If or more likely when the U.K. or any other European country is directly threatened does anyone truly think the US will be interested? Of course not. Which of course makes the government’s ongoing disarmament programme look even more ludicrous.

Trump has hammered the USA's allies with tariffs, disparaged their leaders and history, and now expects them to his aid? What a bellend.

Yep. It’s like slapping a smaller kid, shoving his head down the sh1tpan, pinching his pocket money and asking him for help and a thank you. Total bellend. Should we defend shipping in the Strait? Yes. To protect our interests not Trump’s or America’s. Pity there’s nothing to do that with unless Starmer hires a pedalo and buys (on expenses of course) a spud gun.

He's now threatening "a bad future for NATO" if NATO don't help to secure Hormuz. This isn't going well for him at home either. He's called the media "traitors" and trying to get them silenced and Vance is nowhere to be seen as he wants nothing to do with this. SB

Just as Trump thinks that, under the new Monroe Doctrine, the Middle East is part of the Western Hemisphere, he must think the same of the North Atlantic in NATO. [Post edited 16 Mar 8:24]

A common mistake to think that he thinks anything with any real clarity or understanding. It's just spontaneous decisions lurching from one thing to the next without any strategic planning or correlation. SB

I agree he is all over the place in terms of explanations but he doesn't care. And I still maintain that what has been going on recently has been driven by the notion of payback time when it comes to the three biggest bogeyman of the Republican right, namely, Venezuela, Cuba and Iran. And regarding Iran, his interests happen to coincide with those of Netanyahu. [Post edited 16 Mar 8:30]
